hi all. the 07' mustang FINALLY landed in melbourne. this one is the 'middle of the range' 4.6ltr V8 shelby GT. auto as wellbut still very nice car. i have not driven it yet largely because it came fitted with a beautiful set of extractors which i had to replace with stock manifolds, (they fouled with the RHD steering shaft)
now the exhaust is missing a section of pipe about 700mm on each bank. ferking loud when you start her up.
i have been a busy little bee, flying up to QLD and back to get the RHD conversion done, and hopefully this will be added to our schedule in the next couple of weeks/months.
the stock sound system THUMPS
tell me your thoughts
Question, how does it drive now it's been converted? I'm yet to drive a RHD conversion that drives any good (or atleast as good as the LHD version), the RHD conversion generally seams to stuff the car up. They just end up so messy, i'd never have a car that's been converted, I'd rather drive a car LHD (i know it has to be done on a late model car, but i wouldn't buy a late model US car anyway).
Whats used in the way of steering to convert it?
Edit: Just noticed you havn't driven it![]()
Mate, that is one hot looking car!
new rack. old rack mounts cut off and new plates welded on, it fits up really nicely. bugger all room between the steering column knuckle and the engine mount, but enough to get by.
this conversion kit is pretty awesome though. looks really good. the only complaint is they didnt get the geography right for the throttle so it bottomed out on the carpet/sound deadening, but i fixed that
there are little bits and pieces that would annoy you day-to-day though. like the transmission selector button still being on the passenger side so you gotta use your pinky finger to press it.... im working on a fix for that though.

ohhhhh wow. just wow. These cars are what originally got me into Fords. I would have been great if ford made a production run of RHD mustangs-for export. Like Gm do for thier exports.
Good work!
I would sell my first born for that car! Sexiest car in a long long time! Absolutely eats Holden in the looks department!
Any mod plans as far as exterior? What can be changed as that looks so dam hot as it is! Not too keen on the interior but can't have it all!
Edit - figured out what I don't like interior wise = Airvents!

Holly #### Ari!!
That is bloody amazing!!!
That is really proper car porn mate, nice one!
PS, I can see the handbrake there on the worng side...![]()
So how did you end up with that. Im a ford hater, but im not hating
well im jealous
f##k that looks tough.
yep, very very jealous
thought i would answer some q's i was too busy to do last night.
yeah, nah. not yet. i moved it around the workshop in QLD but its too frikken loud for my old ears. will give it a proper drive on wednesday when i take it to get the exhaust fixedi have to admit i am not really that excited by driving it. i have 1 point left on my licence after a stupid 0.051 DUI, so even if i do it will have to be babied everywhere.
because this is our test car, it needs to be 100% stock standard till' the boys form DOTARS come down for their inspection. once we have the compliance plate issued and the car has been added to our schedule, then ima try and convince my business partners to stick our company logo all over it and use it as a workhorse... oh it would be a tough life.
lol. did i mention the transmission selector button is on the wrong side too? bloody annoying, its one of those small things. too small to fix, but enough to peeve you right off.
yeah boot release is on the pass kick panel. oh and the bloody ECU is on the drivers kick panel so you need to depress the throttle all the way to get the fuse box cover off... GRRRR
i have to be honest and say i dont own it. i own the evidence that i need to add this to the list of cars i can import (which works out to be about the same price as the car cost in america). up untill now i have only done jap cars, i.e. skylines, evos, supras etc. this is the first time in about 8 or 9 years i have actually been excited about adding a careven though i dont own it, and in a couple of months it may leave my life forever, its still very much my project. i have been doing the RHD conversion over the space of a few weeks, and i still need to do a few minor ADR modifications to it before the test. but its still very much my baby.

if you look at commodores up to i think VT the handbrake is on the far side of the console and you dont notice/ doesnt matter.
Updates?
Also, the Pontiac GTO had the handbrake in the exact same place as it is on the RHD Commodores, and I haven't heard too many tales about yanks complaining:
Anyway ari, thats one hell of a sweet ride, just a shame its not yours!![]()
meh, this shape doesnt really do anything for me. its the 2010's that have the horn.
updates at this stage are:
nothing. played around with it today. made the dash stop working, left it.
Mate I think I'm the first to ask, I hope you don't mind but I'd be interested to know what costs are involved with this? I work in Export and with the US the way it is and the Dollar being so strong you would think that this would not be overly expensive.
You are working on this for your company, so you import then sell these vehicles?
Beautiful car by the way.
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
