mate read monkeys comment again and if it still hasnt sunk into your head keep reading till it does
weather your car has chopped springs, rooted bushes, bald tyres etc etc is still comes into the unroadworthy catagory.
and with chopped springs it might feel like its fine to drive until you hit a big bump and as you said they come out. similar situation with your shitbox... feels fine to drive until... something happens.
Alright.
Cameron when my car had chopped springs it was a awful ride, it felt bad over bumps. :\
i have been in a car with chopped springs aswell :P but what im getting at is although your car feels fine its actually unroadworthy... and its in the catagory of unroadworthy for a reason :P
not having a dig at you but just trying to get mine and everybody else's point across to you![]()
Yeah i also agree , i have an an example of feeling safe:
Our little laser feels fine to drive but you get out and you move the rear wheels back and fourth, no bushes left at all, but other then odd rattle on a big bump they make no noise at all, feels safe enough to drive but i would hate to see what would happen if i was cruising along at 80 and the bolt finally let go.
I dont really have a point to make but ffs just fix it so its mechanically 100%, in the brakes steering and suspension anyways.
It's not you being careful that you have to worry about its the other dick heads on the road that are going to cause you to try dodge them and put the arm to its limits and then it will let go, its your life mate but better to be safe and make sure someone else doesn't have to pay for you being lazy.
Just get it safe champ. If you know somethings wrong just fix it. It's not major work and it's not big cash so make it a project for the weekend or your next day off. Just be careful when you jack it up to have it supported properly.
Yeah fair enough guys, I live in a small little town.. So I barely travel over 60K's, barely any cars.
Id do it myself but the DIY kit's ive seen are $200 so I prob think its cheaper to take it down to mechanics
THANNNNK YOOOUU!
"it will only really matter if you need to do an evasive maneuver"... so, do you reckon you will need to do that maneuver tonight? or maybe tomorrow afternoon at 1.34? or maybe in a fortnight on tuesday at 11.52AM.
how the feck would you know WHEN you need that bush to work? all you can rely on is it wont work when you need it to, so replace it.
edit* bushes will be about 30 bucks each. it doesnt take any special tools, just a bench vice, ratchet and spanner and possibly a BFH. take you 2 hours to replace the pair.
Aren't you the dill that recently lunched your engine in your VR doing burnouts or something equally stupid? And had to ask members on the forum what the noise might be? And you don't understand what the noises in your suspension on this Ford might be caused by?
You obviously don't have a clue and are totally lacking in maturity and common sense. There might well be equally poor drivers in NSW driving equally bad or worse cars to yours. But we're talking about you on this thread, not them.
Quote: "Driving around town cant be that fatal could it?"
Oh, so fatals only occur on the open road do they, not around town.
Christ, you are an idiot. Thank the Lord you live well away from me.
this has all gotten a little too heavy for me. its not like we havnt done dumb stuff when we were his age. he asked a question about whether he should be concerned about control arm movement, he got his answer, now its just up to him to decide on whether he is gonna take the advice, or act like a kid his age.
im gonna just back away slowly from this thread![]()
You learn from mistakes.. yeah?
Okay Calaber. Ill be stupid like you claim I am, Not take notice of the knock.. Wont remember that theres movement in the suspension.. and Ill drive it like a racecar.
Wouldnt it be less hazardous me knowing then me not knowing and thinking the cars in top shape?
Honestly there are so many people who would buy a car from some paddock and drive it across australia thinking its the best car ever..
Gah.
I know it's dangerous, I know it should be fixed. K thanks. let me get back to my high speed racing in my POS like a typical p plater i am.
no one i know would. especially cos they know i would be in their ear: "you know its dangerous, you cant trust it, you need to change this and this, whats that noise, its not supposed to make that noise"... etc etc etc
Cut your losses and turn it into a paddock bomb already. It's obvious you don't give a sh*t about the car, and by the sounds of it the thing is barely driveable and unsafe when doing so.
Did you consider that your suspension fault may lead to you causing an accident, rather than being in one while trying to avoid someone else? Unless you have an intimate knowledge of the condition of the parts of the this car (which I think is safe to say you don't), you never know when something will go wrong, or to what extent.
I'm not trying to be a dick, and I know stuff all about cars compared to alot of people on this forum, but I think you should take this thing off the road.

thats cos the things you 'fixed' dont need fixing and the things that are borked gave you plenty of warning![]()
