So after I sold my DH bike, I felt that I didn't have enough toys and decided to add something new to my stable.
So I got myself a boat jointly with my future father in law. So I suppose it's more "My Float" than it is "My Ride".
It's a Pride Panther Hull (1985-1990) with a 1993 (ish) 140hp Evinrude v4 motor.
Picking it up on the weekend of the 19th.
Here are some early pics:
As you can see, it needs a little bit of TLC such as giving the hull a polish and cleaning the inside a bit.
Before I pick it up the dealer is fixing the throttle thing, putting a prop on it, servicing the motor and removing the VRO for me.
Very pleased with my purchase.![]()
WHat did you pay for that vk
umm... it's not a vk... it's a boat...
But I paid $8000. It was originally listed for $11,000.
I actually went to this boat place to look at a smaller, cheaper boat but after I told the guy what I wanted it for he suggested this one would be better as it's a wider, deeper hull than what I was looking at and more suited to getting around the bay.
Looks good. Bet you're itching to get it out on the water!
Oh....and does it have a prop?

One of the dealers lost me very quick when he pointed to a boat and said it was a Caribbean Cheetah when in fact I knew it was a Caribeean Runabout. Never good for someone who is trying to sell me a boat to demonstrate they don't know what they are selling.
But yeah, the other thing to keep in mind is that I jointly bought this as I couldn't justify paying 8k for something I will only use for 3 months a year max!
No idea man. I told him what I was planning on using it for and he said he would fit a prop that suited my needs. I think be mentioned something about a prop that I wouldn't be able to accidentally over rev it easily or something.
Sounds good. Just FYI, the lower the number pitch of the prop, the faster your holeshot will be, but you lose top end speed.
As you go up in pitch, you gain more topend, but your holeshot speed suffers. For every change in prop pitch (15,17,19,21) you lose approximately 400rpm

So it's basically the opposite to diff ratios. With a diff the higher you go in ratio the quicker you can get off the line but you loose top end. With prop the higher the pitch the higher the top speed but less acceleration.
Cool. Handy to know.![]()
Ahhh memories . I used to have a pride cheetah the younger brother loved that boat !
Yeah, we looked at a few Cheetah's but they were too small for what we wanted. The Cheetah are 4.5m and the Panther is 5m and the hull on the Panther is a fair bit deeper/wider.
Can't wait to get it!
99% sure it will be ready this Saturday. So it's down to the dealer and he is going to show up how to put it in the water, start it, etc.
Then tow it home, admire it for a bit and hopefully hit the water. Though that depends on if it's rego'd already.![]()
I have a cheetah its got a 140 on the back goes pretty hard for wake boarding and tubing.
If you have a boat You might need to watch this
Got my licence today. 28/30 so 93%. Fairly happy as some of the questions were wierd and I thought I was going to just fail it.
Picking up the boat at 8.30am tomorrow so with a little luck I will have some "action" shots tomorrow.![]()
Get a good bilge pump lol
There is no such thing as stupid questions, Only stupid people.
Yeah, bilge pump is on the list of modifications that will be occuring in the near future. But for the immediate future it's a bucket on a string! lol.
Sooooo, action pic's????![]()
