Here's my project car that I've almost finished. I live for aircooled Volkswagens.
1964 Australian built Type 1. 4.5" narrowed adjustable beam and dropped two splines in the rear. Too many accessories to list and I have a thing for accessories as you can see
Still needs to go lower! She's running 145 tyres at the front. I think your Commodores are running something considerably wider
Here's what she looked like originally:

Since then I've added:
4.5" narrowed adjustable beam
Adjustable spring plates in the rear
Replaced all engine gear with proper Bosch branded parts
Added mud flaps
Roof racks that include vintage luggage, a 60's Malleys esky, a raccon's tail and a bare flat four engine case
Flying VW logo hood ornament
Period correct steering wheel cover
Albert swan neck mirrors
KDF flying swastika logo'd hubcaps (imported from Germany and powder coated here. Cost me a fortune.)
White wall tyre insterts
Colour coded sun visor
Rear venetian blind
Mexican blankets as seat covers
Swamp cooler (for those hot days. Pictured below)
Here's an old photo of the interior. I've since added the seat covers and steering wheel cover.
Here's an old photo of the engine too. It's a 1300cc 40hp engine. I don't have any updated photos since cleaning it up and changing the parts unfortunately.
I love this car and it practically has zero rust which is a bonus! I'm sure I've done more to it but I can't remember it at the moment. I'll add it when I do. Beautiful thing with Volkswagens is their simplicity! Four bolts that hold the engine in and it can be taken out and replaced in about an hour. Working on them is incredible fun.

I didn't give too much info in case you guys wouldn't be interested. But if you want to know anything specific, just ask. The car was completed stock when I bought it too.
I'd be happy for you to edit your first post, and add as much information an photos as you like
Definately love to see build threads, especially on a sexy Dub

Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
Cheers fellas. Means a lot to me. I'm in a bit of a hardcore VW club and mine is nothing compared to the other more hardcore dubs! I get looks everywhere when I drive it and loads of photos taken. Cops stare at me and don't know what to make of it and let me pass bythe work I've done to it isn't ahh...exactly legal.
Anyways, here's some more snaps I've taken where work had been slowly done.
Love camber!

god this is cool, colour is perfect. where did you get the cooler from?
I LOVE it. Had one just like that in 1967 in off white.
Keep the photos coming PLEASE. This thing is awesome!
Cheers again for the kind words fellas. I was really expecting to be made fun of with this old beetle. I got the swamp cooler from a mate in a car club. They're becoming hard to find these days. I'll see if I can get some more photos when I've done a little more work to it![]()
