    Default My (weekend) ride...

So until the salary packaged daily driver VE arrives I needed something to tide me over... I figured a classic, something I will keep for the rest of my life, something to drive on those glorious sunny weekends. What does everyone think? I know it's not a Commodore, but there's always room in my garage for a classic Holden!

Picked it up in Melbourne on Thursday, drove it home yesterday, washed it today and went on a photo tour of Canberra

It's a 1970 HG Premier 308 (only done 20,000kms) with Yella Terra heads, Mild Cam, 600 Vac Holley Extractors, Electronic Distributor, dual 2.5 inch Exhaust, full respray in the orignal Mediteranian Blue, full interior restoration to better than original quality, retractable seat belts and Kenwood CD / 4 speaker sound system.

    http://gallery.oldholden.com/HG_308/

I'm already in love with her! Going to see if I can get into doing school formals and weddings etc...

    Nice find.

Wow, very nice! Even though I prefer the brougham, that is still really nice!

Also, how much did it cost? (if you don't mind me asking)

$10,000. It's probably worth closer to $15,000 but it was a 'no reserve' eBay auction.

A classic 308's sound is one of my favourite sounds in the world.

Pretty much any holden V8 is just awesome, but an old classic like that has a lot of character.

Hmm ... Don't really see quality like that on ebay too often ... Great find ... Well worth it by the looks of things...

I'm of two minds at the moment. Not sure weather to tint the windows or leave them as is. It's more original un-tinted... What do you think?

That is in superb condition, beautiful car.
I would tint the windows to help protect what looks like a pristine interior.

What is the extra lock on the steering column?

Tint the windows so nobody can see that the seats dont match the color of the rest of the trim.Where is the grill badge? Is the carpet stained or is it just bad light?
Nice HG but you payed a bit too much.

The leather was the closest match to the original colour trim... I actually don't mind the look. Nice new seats stand out but the interior is also still original.

Grill badge was taken off cause the guy that I bought it off liked the horizontal lines of just the grill. I have spare grills and badges in the shed (got a ute load of spares). Might see how it looks but I think it looks good at the moment. Will see if a badge makes it better or worse.

Stained? Are you on drugs? It's all new carpet mate...

As for the price, find as good or better for less and then talk to me about paying too much.

Not surprising, should have expected someone to be totally negative about it. This is after all, the Just Commodores Forum and we all know how famous it is for it's maturity and intelligence levels... heh :P

Thanks mate! I went through a whole 85 litre tank of fuel in one weekend last weekend when I was out and about taking the pics. It's a real head turner and you're right, an AWESOME cruiser. Makes me smile the whole time

I'm planning on putting a fair bit of work into it so maybe in a couple of years it'll be worthy of entering in more than the Summernats driving events...

I asked if the carpet was stained,i didnt say it WAS stained.Where it goes from flat near the brake pedal to the transmission tunnel it looks a bit funny, and no im not on drugs never have never will.
You are one to talk about negative comments on this forum, thats all you do.
How do you know that the leather was the closest match to the trim? You brought the car like that.Leather can easilly colour matched. You said the interior had a full restoration yet you say it just has new seats. If it was all done together then it would match.
Does it have a long range tank?I didnt think they were that big(85lt).
Look at the end of the day its a nice car and good luck with it,but i just dont like you, sorry.
