Exclamation Dads American Muscle (1957 Chev)

    Hi all,
just thought i would post some pictures up of dads pride and joy:

    1957 chevrolet belair sports sedan
    OWNER: Joe Giardina
    ENGINE/TRANS: 283 ci v8 / turbo 350
BODY: 4 door hard top pillarless
PAINT: india ivory over custom blue
Number of cars made of this sort: 137,672
Original cost back in 1957: $2,364 (US)

the car will be in old exhibition building next weekend celebrating its 50th birthday

dad also ownes the more sort after 2 door sports sedan, but this is sitting in 1 million parts and in primer in the garage lol (i think i might have to take it off him)

the photos were taken about about 2 months ago in the front yard, i know what your about to say "its a big front yard" its also a bitch to take the bins up lol.

let me know what you think of it

Go the '57 Chev! I never could decide which one I liked more. The '57, or the '55. But that is so freaking hot. Pillarless too. Ohhhhhh....I love it.

cheers everyone, dad has had the 2 door (the one in the garage for 4 years) and this one for 1 & 1/2 years. the man who restored this car died of cancer a couple of days after completing the car. his wife decided that she didn't want to see it being driven around so she locked it up in the garage, anyway people who knew of the car started wondering what happened to it, and started asking questions, about 2 months after her husband died, she was approceched by an australian importer who eventually convinced her to sell it to him. whilst the car was on the boat over to australia, my dad after seeing photo's fell in love, and purchased it without actually seeing the car in person.

yeah hakhawk you can still buy white walls for her, actually heaps of them for sale if you go to the shows and swapmeets

1vngal i agree both the 55 and 57 are nice, better say i like the 57 better just incase dad was ever to read this lol.

i'm trying to get dad to chuck a blown 350 in her, but he doesn't want to wreck the originality, lol hopefully i can get him to do it to the 2 door

in america they have a compitition its called the pebel beach run the car scored 941 out 0f 100 which i beleive is extreamly difficult as the judges pick up of any thing EG if you have non genuine gm hoses you will loose points, we beleive we lost alot of points for the aftermarket speakers.

just for anyone that was interested the show is actually in 2 weekends time

    cheers for the comments

beautifal car....magnificant. Yeah ive read about pebel beach on foxtel. 941 is an outstanding score. That thing is what dreams are made of. Id leave it how it is and hot the 2 door up but there getting rarer. Oh what a nasty decision lol. Goes off to dream...

ahh the 4 door, something in this condition you could pay up to $60,000, but then again you can get them restored for as little as $25,000, so it really depends on what your after. the 2 doors are starting to hit the $80,000 mark and i have seen a few that have broken the $100,000 but they were exceptional cars

forgot to add that the convertibles which are the rarest and most expensive 1957 chevs , restored are also at the $100,000+, watch out for the nomads which are a 2 door wagon, they had the least number of cars made, and they are getting harder and harder to find, in 20 years those things will be worth a bucket load as more of them are broken down and sold for parts

VHSLX3300 and bill_randomhero cheers for the comments
wrx884 this car will stay as it is (original) but the 2 door will be pimped out lol

the 2 door will have a worked 350 maybe blown, we had a brand new 454 for it but dad decided to sell it (which is stupid as they pushed the firewall back so it would fit better.) with 20's on the back and 18's on the front, it will be very low, and maybe if i can have it my way even get him to put airbags under it. it will have a system for show and a detailed engine bay. the 2 door is also a right hand drive lol so that is my car.

ill post some pics of the 4 doors engine bay later on tonight.
    cheers everyone

while i appreciate the 55/6/7 styling of chevs, im sick of them. they are too common. im into early-mid 60s impalas. there is nothing quite like crusing in a massive yank tank with the windows. pure class

that being said, your old man has a very fine example of GM muscle. has the 283 had any work?

my old man had a 63 impala which started out as a stock 283, then a 307 and then a mild 350. in a big car it hauled arse. the one thing i was really surprised about was the power steering in it.. for a huge car it was lighter then my commodore!

anyway, post up some interior and engine pics

hey everyone thanks for the comments, i agree troy they are to common, but not as common as the 60's-70's mustangs, 63 impala nice, they go mad with hydrolics lol, the 283 is stock except its got abit of chrome work and a big k&n airfilter as the thing was just chocking for air before hand, ill have to wait untill tomorrow to take some more pics now.

Wagon_Wheel lol i hope i get my way aswell.

lol yeah juzza the front yard would be an acre by its self, lol i play golf on it and we have a vegitable garden in it lol, fun for circle work aswell lol. although the taps dont agree (my sister hit one, nearly killed her)

i was mucking around in the chev yesterday and because it hasn't been driven it had a big flat spot, so me in my helpfull mannar tried to get the flat spot out, so i got the wheels spining on concrete, just hope dad dont see the marks, because i got a fealing i will have to store sperm now if i want children coz his gonna rip me nuts off.
