Yes, i have defected to the Ford camp, but its a decision made with my head, not my heart.
I got 2 EA Falcons for $700 ( 1 is my dads and 1 is my bro's ), my dad's ( white one ) has a stuffed motor but the body is good and my brothers ( gold one ) has a good motor but the body is damaged.
so the motors getting ripped out of the gold one ( and some other goodies that he has ) and put into the white one.
This is the car that's getting done up

We got rep back, yaaay!
u sold ya vc for this... shame on u JD :P looks gd though
ha ha, EA's hey, i used to have a CFI 3 speed auto EA on gas, thought it was the sh!t at the time, i couldn't believe the grunt it had (i owned a 202 HQ before it), now i got the calais, i can't beleive i thought the EA was grunty. i aint baggin em though they still enough power to cause trouble.
You should put an EL donk in it, they are tough as (for a ford hahahaha)
First thing they are CPI not CFI.Only tip i can give you is remove the throttle cable from the plastic bracket on the rocker cover.All it does is weaken the cable housing and when it breaks you loose throttle alot.If the cable housing is broken then replace it.The difference is amazing.Will also improve kickdown.
CPI/CFI same difference.
CPI= center point injection
CFI= central fuel injection
yeah i knew what i meantand i'd love a EL motor but the reason i did this is cos money is rather tight atm and i wanted a cheap runabout that has some balls.

along the track i'd like to put a ecotec in it, something different.

rofl
I (roughly) fitted a pair of WH stato seats into an EA, was fkn funny as
I,ve always wondered how an EBII-EL falcon with the 4.0L multi point injected engines, would go like with a T700 behind them, i rekon that would be a pretty potent combo.
i reckon so too, my dad has a EFII Fairmont Ghia and that hammers!
We got rep back, yaaay!
becaus falcons first gear is massivly tall, you can pull about 85-90km/k out of first and commos are lucky to get 70km/h, that's why commos always jump falcons on the line, so if you put a t700 in a falcon it would pull hard as in first gear.
The manual EA multipoints go pretty good and might even have a slight edge over a auto VN, the autos and anything non multipoint are way slower than VN's though
nice project car mate, i once had a EB and with a few mods was running mid 14's. they are a great car.
cheers guys, even though the gold motors only CPI, it still hammers for some reason ( pretty much as good as my old VP )
We got rep back, yaaay!
multipoint ea manual will slaughter a vn auto, they hammer.
Put some good diff gears in them and they'll go even harder.
Do not listen to anything this man says, they are insane illogical thoughts propagated by us, the voices in his head.
i dunno if ill be modding at this stage, just wanting a cheap-ish runabout atm

mum used to have an EA Fairmont Ghia, to be honest when we first got it (1997) it was a pretty cushy car, but after a few years everything fell apart - the exhaust fell off (fell off its bracket so hung loosly), ALL power windows stopped working (at diff times), clock stopped, boot no longer opened, remote c/l stuffed up, car alarm randomly went off so had to disconnect it, n it literally needed an oil refill every week! (our driveway turned black). So then mum sold it for a VT.
Not saying it will happen to u, it obviously went past its use-by date. it was a nice car n all, in fact i wanted to buy it for my first car, until it fell to bits.
Good luck man
dad has had to replace A LOT of the little things like that, good thing is though that it doesn't have pwr windows, i hate pwr windows with a passion ( unless they always work, which most don't )
We got rep back, yaaay!
the EA had suspension issues to they dont handle too well the issues were corrected in the EB version
I used to work with a guy that had a mint one and my old VN V6 could take it to 100 comfortably so I wouldn't say they hammeranother guy had a EF auto and it was pretty much the same in acceleration as the EA MPI manual s pack this was a nightly ritual after work as we pulled onto a highway to come home. All fun and games untill I bought my VP and then a girl brang her boyfreinds 12 second Torana to work and gave me a hiding with it

That would have hurt.
