Did you get the block resurfaced?
Did you get the block resurfaced?
What kind of loser would drive a Supra?
Looks good mate.
decking cast iron blocks isnt really necessary aslong as the are flat and clean there's no real need.
especially when they're hard as balls... ive noticed jap blocks are alot stronger than others, for instance it takes ages to wear the bores, my motor has 0 lip on the bores where my v6 had a fair lip on it
using a razor blade & very fine sand paper i cleaned the block to the point where its very flat with nothing that could ruin my nice expensive gasket
most likely take it for RWC next week![]()
How did you test it was perfectly flat? Say goodbye if it isn't![]()
straight edge + feeler gauge ftw!
On a 400rwkw mission.
im not using a copper gasket, im using a Multi layered steel composite because everyone seems to have sealing issues with copper gaskets, ill most likely hit up the gasket with hylomar aswell to ensure a good seal. after all airstrike, i undid the headbolts in the corect order and the head didnt lift just blew out between the water jacket and the 6th cyc like they all do
looks like it could be registered in as little as 1.5-2 weeks im in no rush however, i doubt ill get the gasket today so ill have to wait till next week to put it back together
ive heard copper gaskets dont seal properly when the engines cold, due to the metal changing shape i think.

maybe something to do with the different expansion rates of steel, alloy and copper?
I've heard copper gaskets are ace for sealing combustion, but poo for water and oil, forever weeping etc.
having said that, I've never used one myself so I wouldn't really know![]()
On a 400rwkw mission.
yeah luke, ive heard of people running upto 27psi+ on these gaskets without any issues
Composite metal gaskets are about the best you can buy, especially cometic. Straioght edge and feeler gauge is the way anything more than 6 thou of distortion should be decked. Copperhead are good you do need to use hylomar sealant around water jackets and the like, they also need to be annealed before use. Expansion rates between different metals is an issue its genrally recommended after 100k's to back off and retension headbolts. This period allow time for the different metal and alloy heads to settle.
The issue with m series motors is from factory the head bolt tension were only about 56 lbs of torque waaay too low especially on turbo's. Thus headgasket has always been the main issue. My old man had a cressida with this problem. I believe 110 lbs is about the correct figure now
GAY ARSE ****ING COURIERS ****ed me round 3 times and im ****ed off just wanting to get my gaskets![]()
I ran a 14.6 Gardonz, your time guess sucks.![]()
i ran mine in 45deg heat!
not a bad time tho!
****ing courriers!!!!!!!!!!!!
ive called twice a day for the last 4 days to make sure my headgasket arrives and they tell me today "it might have been returned to sender" WTF...
/ragequit

hope it all goes well.
sounds like youre guna push it pretty hard.
hehehe thanks, i intend to take it to warp 10....
FINALLY got my gear notice the diffrence between Multi Layered Steel and Composite
![]()
best part is these gaskets are reusable!
Yep multi layered have the little brass looking rings that hold the layers together. We use them on some of the newer motors at work. Have you got the head on yet?
