Nah... it was fairly wet... so after i stopped bouncing on my head i just slid...
Got up... found the pedal that fell off... grab that... grab the bike... rode the rest of the of the hill were my mates where waiting for me..
Their like "Dude... wtf happened to you" to which my reply was thowing the pedal to one of them... the stood there is silence for about 5 seconds that almost died
lol
And that weekend I got a this bike...
FORSALE - BRICKIES TRESTLES + SOLID STEEL SPIRAL STAIRCASE. -
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ressively.html
Got told by a guy i used to work with to run a 24" rear wheel...Dont know for what reason though?
Apparently its a common mod though.
"If you're going through hell, keep going"
Yeah, running a smaller rear wheel is the same principal as why motor cross guys do it.
Makes it easier to throw the bike around both in the air and corners...
Makes the bike a touch less stable though i think.
Best was to demonstrate this is take a wheel of with the axle.... hold either side of the axle with each had... spin the wheel and try to tilt it and move it around... now do the same with a smaller wheel... and it will be easier...
Plus a smaller rim means its tougher and less likely to buckle.
Thats my opinion anyway.
Well... just had my first bike vs car stack...
The bike is fine... as am I... just a sore hip... no other injuries I've noticed... so yay!
Happened at the Aremosa / Frankston Flinders road roundabout. I was heading along Frankston Flinders heading towards frankston.
Woman (elderly, no suprise) in a little silver something of other pulled out as i was coming through...
I ALMOST managed to pull up but just not enough room... ditched the bike last minute to try adn save it from damage... I hit right hip into her front right quarter panel just after the A-pillar rolled/slid over the bonnet and somehow ended up on my feet.. stumbling along arms out front alomost face planting but held it!
I left a scratch on her bonnet front a buckle on my pack I'm assuming and a slight dent when my hip make impact.
Bike front bike hit her driver door (tyre mark) and then the back came around with the pedal and rear suspension leaving some minor but visible dents and scratches.
She was fairly upset about it so I didn't go off at her... would have been a different story if the bike was damaged! Her husband seemed convinced that it wa my fauly because I wasn't wearing high visibility clothing.
I was lucky because I wasn't carrying much pace through the round about as I slowed down coming into it for traffic to my right I saw entering the round about.
Because them I would have either hit her harder... or... I would have been at the spot earlier and she could have clipped me instead... which would have resulted in some serious damaged to the bike and me.
Other than that... a good ride... 15km I think... stack happened within 500 meters of home... I could see the driveway... lol
TT Looks freaking short!
I guess it is more FR rather then DH, DaBomb bikes are certainly a tough frame though.
Will post up my rig soon.
Whats a TT?
Yeah... the front shock isn't a DH specific shock... but does the job for what I need it.
The rear shock in that pic was a 10.5x3.0 but has since been replace with a Marz ROCO TST R 9.5x3.0... so the bike site a bit lower in the back... not enough to really notice riding...
Keen to see your one mate.
Ah right... yeah... I guess it is...
I'm 6.4 and haven't had any issues.
Yeah... I can't wait to get back on some good trails... mainly eatons cutting... good fun out there...
Each time we go there I try to get atleast one run down the fire track to see how fast I can get upto... I think I managed 49kmph down there... thats what my speedo said anyway... the corners were hairy!
What? Save like 50 grams... lol... Don't think that 50 gram will do much in my case... L'll just have a smaller breakfast... then I can keep the speedo...![]()
Just took some pictures of the new shock... thats not really new as I've had it since july-ish last year... but there are no pictures of it so its new.
It's a 2008 Marzocchi ROCO TST R 9.5 inch shock with 3.0 inches of travel with a 400 pound spring (Very plush for my weight).
My previous shock was 10.5 inch shock with 3.0 inches of travel so as you man notice... the geometry of my bike has changed a bit...
Yes... I lowered my bike. Are you honestly suprisedwith my car history?
And the final picture is what happens when I decided to watch Snatch and Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels with a mate...
That's a 35 dollar cigar... and the beer of choice was Asahi...
Must admit though... the caravan in the background does somehow cheapen the shot somewhat![]()
Well, I figure I'd post in this thread since it's been a while.
Went out last Sunday to eatons cutting again for ashort sessions with a few mates.
Had a ball and only one semi serious stack... once again, got to love the full face helment and my shin pads!
Was hammering down a trail we hadn't been down before came up to a Y in the trail. I decided to go right but just as I started turning in I noticed there was a massive branch blocking the trail. So instead I went straight, slammed the fronts on to avoid buckling the wheel on another tree and went over the bars into a shrub of some sort.
Came out of it with a few bruises and a scratch so overall not bad.
I have decided to get a new rear coil as my current one is WAY too soft. It's currently got a 425lb coil and I've ordered a 550lb one for it.
We're also half thinking about trying to get out to Mt Buller and doing the trails there... mianly since they have the lift so we don't have to ride/walk back up.![]()
haha I love this thread.
I have a Haro Flightline Comp and me and my mate would ride all the time beofre we got our licenses
I live in a realtively built up area though so urban riding mostly.
I must say it certainly took a while to get used to the hydraulic discs. A while after I got the bike I was following my mate in road that were unfimiliar to me and came to a Y in the road when I was doing 50km/h , locked up the rear slid right down the middle hid the curb hard and flipped into this old ladies rose bushes. The funniest part was she was looking out the window at the time. I got up and noticed my handle bars were turned 90 degrees and the chain how jamned itself down next to the sprocket.
But once you get used to the disc brakes you would never give them up. very occasionaly they might even make you feel like a pro. I pulled up to the lights while doing an endo 3-4 car lengths long (I had been doing 50km/h). Got some interesting looks from some drivershell I was suprised myself! I thought I was going to end up on my face for sure.

Yeah, the Hydrolic brakes caught me off guard when I first got the thing. Very sensitive plus with the 9inch rotors grabbed hard.
I'm also going to have to look into a cheap gain guide OR replacing the granny gear with a 2nd backguard. The chain keeps dropping to the granny gear on me with me noticing and then I almost come off when I try to pedal.
Not great fun when you're flying down a tight and fast run.
