New Toy - 2003 Da Bomb DH Mtb
Just posting up my new toy... my dh mountain bike!
Well I ride it and this is the "My Ride" thread right
Anyway,
Its a 2003 DaBomb Mindbomb frame with 2005 Bomber Z1FR3 forks, a ****ty rear shock which I blew the other weekend and am shopping for a replacement, it had Hayes NINE hydrolic brakes with 9 inch disc. Shimano Deore XT derailers (9 speed).
Great fun... it takes a fair beating and loves it... had some big wipe outs around Eastons Cutting... Stopped myself mid air with a tree last time out which kinda hurt.
Oh yeah... pix...

Downhill... yeah probably... got upto 52kmph on the fire track at eatons cutting...
Tell you what though... downhill at eatons with anything but disc brakes is crazy...
Most my mates have 6 inch discs.... but by the end of the day they are suffering brake fade cause the rotors heat up so much... Mine love it and go strong.

Looks good.
I have a 2004 Avanti Barracuda hardtail.
Yeah people, bikes do come with hydraulic disk brakes, mine has them too.
Was actually thinking about getting a second hand Avanti D8 as a downhill bike.

^^^ Sweety ride... I don't know why but I find hardtails hard to control under brakes on a rough trail... Though they're alot niced to control in the air...

Nah... the 9 inch disc are the biggest you can get... atm If i even look in the general direction of the front brake it grabs hard...lol
Learnt how good these brakes are the hard way... lol

Yeah so do I, there is no compliance in the rear so they can bounce and nearly throw you.
I take mine and do a bit of DH on it, its ok but you do wish for a rear shock sometimes hehe.

Shock is in and mounted... feels pretty good... might have to look into a stiffer spring but other than day... happy days!
