Here's the new baby in our family (my fiancee's car), a 1991 E36 BMW 318i.
I gave her a polish and took some pics yesterday, here's a couple:
And one with the flash on to show off the shiny paint!
Absolutely loving the car so far.

Tell you what, this car's got me thinking about ditching my Commodore and buying a BMW. I probably will for my next car, to be honest.

Yeah... not really much of a comparison between a bimmers handling and a commodore is there?
Only down site to them is servicing costs and spare parts...
But as long as its not breaking down... all sweet!
What are your plans for it?
car looks great, got any interior shots?
i've been wanting an e39 for a while now (even before i bought my commodore), definately on the cards once i get outta uni
hehe yeah I see why you two love them now. No comparison whatsoever to Aussie cars. No plans of any significance really, Sami's keeping this one nice and stock-ish until we can upgrade her to a 6cyl E36, maybe even an M3, sometime in the next few years.
Nah not yet, interior nothing special really, pretty well base model BMW. All in good condition but no leather, no power windows.

I looked at an E36 318i before I got the liberty, manual with sunroof, 1997 model. It was ok to drive, but god awfully slow and the reciepts for repairs did not exactly inspire confidence (the radiator was over $500) so I left it.
They're a great looking car though for the time and they look newer than they are as they kept that shape for so long and then the next shape was not much of a dramatic change. So the look is still quite modern for an 18 year old car.
Noice beamer! any interior pics? i cant remember what the int of that model looks like
good job with the polish
LS1 Fits?![]()
Foaming VP Stage 2. Going fast(er) on the almost cheap
VP executive-R 0-60mph 5.36 11/10/07, PB ET 9.031 1/8th mile at South Coast Raceway Portland 20-2-2009
VH SL/E 202 Auto 0-60mph 13.5
lol! it's the sunroof control panel you twit. The only death rattle I had was in the VN and that's fixed now
VN will be around for a couple of years yet.
They are a bit.. but you don't buy a 318i for pace
Will try to take some later on
Don't tempt me. Replace with M3 - much more sensible choice.

MY WB ONE TONNER!!!!!!!!!! Check it out!http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ne-tonner.htmlnow the old vk is pretty beastly, but like they say you will always want more power. I started doing alittle research and I figured that might as well add a bellmouth to the old 202. Now from what I can see I can roughly expect a 20rwkw power gain, do you guys think this would be a reasonable gain?
Also I want to add a AU XR8 wing to the old girl, you know the one that has 2 wings?..how would I go about doing this? Should I just glue and nail it onto the boot?
We picked this one up for $6k. Bit more than we'd have probably liked to pay, but it's a very tidy example with a full service history from a BMW specialist.

This shop has done this to every one of my cars. They left out about 10 screws/bolts, and there are now countless smashed trim clips and loose plastics, every one of which causes a horrendously annoying rattle.
//end rant

Argh, slack careless bastards. I know what its like. We have an 88 Volvo, while its in pretty immaculate condition, when we took it to the mechanic a while back, it came back with loose interior bits and now it squeeks and rattles all the time lol. Hate it. Will fix it up soon.

Update!!!
Haha Sam you're slack with this thread :P
She got reversed into the other day in a carpark, by some old man in a Daewoo. The damage doesn't look too bad but there's about $900 worth of damage to the driver's side rear wheel arch and rim. Insurance is covering it all though, which is fantasticAnd on the plus side, as it was BMW vs. Daewoo, there's a hell of a lot more damage to the other car
serves him right. Can't half tell I'm bitter!
Also, she got a brand spanking new black dash mat to cover a couple of cracks in the dash. As soon as I clean out the interior (which currently resembles the inside of a Macca's rubbish bin crossed with a vending machine... entirely my fault) it will look mint with that dash mat in. Just a minor change, I know, but makes the everyday drive that little bit nicer with the mat in.
As soon at we sell our 19s, she's getting a set of 17s and some lower coiloverssexy!

I have had about 15 bmw's ...320/318/328/325/520/525/528/735/740 just a few..
and they are the BEST cars out there and they drive like a dream.
But my 5.7 Ls1 is the better engine
hahaha
the 5.7 is a good motor, I don't know enough about BMW engines to draw my own conclusions there yet
From what I've experienced, BMWs are indeed fantastic. I won't give up on my VN though.![]()

Hoping to get a price from the panelbeaters, while she's there, for getting the grey bumper strips/side strips painted up in body colour. Should sharpen up the whole look a bit.
Also contemplating - once we get a quote on price - getting rims powdercoated, either white or black. Probably a cheaper and easier way to update without buying a whole new set of rims. I know they're not big rims, which everyone seems to want :P but I really like them and would prefer to keep them
