Hmm, tough choice.
I quite like all three, but ultimately if I could do a few small mods to it, I'd take the HQ.![]()
just something i thought would be interesting. forget about price, lets say all cars are priced equally and you can afford to pay to purchase, maintain and run.
Which of the cars would you own and why:
this is my monaro cv6:
super6 should be capable of mid 12's once porting is done.
hot red
leather
dads 1957 Chevrolet belair:
283 small block chev, all chromed engine bay
custom one of a kind never matched before blue
left hand drive
cousins hq:
355 stroker 12 second car, maybe 11 seconds with new trans and tune
full manualised auto
green, i call it kermit green, can't remember name.
average interia
here you have 3 totally different cars, one for comfort with a little go, one all
go no comfort. and what i like to call big papa, no go, no comfort, not even correct driving position, but god damn does it have style.
so ladies and gents which would you prefer to have in the drive way?
Hmm, tough choice.

Makes you realise just how crazy Holden got in later years
. Anyway the HQ is hands down the prettiest sedan Holden even made, I don't think many people would argue about that

Ahh, that's a shame mate. Should be a fair few salvageable bits though?
DO you have pics? I'm a little curious as to how bad the rust really is lol.

The HQ hands down. Even if it was stock as a rock. As much as that belair would be worth, and as stylish as it is... it's just not a car I could ever bare to drive, heaven forbid the sun was too hot, or there was moisture in the air![]()

LOL, is there any contest? I mean really?? How can anybody compare a new monaro V6 to the HQ?? If the Chev was a 55/57 sport coupe then yeh, i'd probably say that but its just a 4 door 57. HQ it is....
ahhhhh you see the 57 2door pillarless coupe is in the garage getting restored still. that just had the firewall pushed back to comfortably fit a 454 haha its going to be a monster.
I voted for the Chev Bel Air, Although after thinking about it a bit more, The HQ would have been a wiser move.
HQ for me. v6 monaro isnt my thing
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
hq it is for me just class and muscle
but if the monaro was V8 it would take the cake![]()
engine in the monaro doesnt matter. HQ still wins

^^^Agreed.
What people have to realise here is that the HQ is (and always will be) an iconic Australian car.![]()
