Mark Webber has finally done it and won his first F1 race.
Well done Mark.
Yes, he didn't crash. Goooo Marky!!
2009 has been a vast improvement for Webber
He deserves it for sticking at it
that was an amazing race, very lucky that the others got stuck behind Massa. but he still somehow got it, even with a drive through, seemed like a shitty day for all of the other drivers though.
go Webber![]()
Has anyone lifted the visor to make sure it's really him under there? He is like a completely different driver to the last few years. 2009 really must be his year

WHAT? you sure? were talking about the same Mark Webber right?
Well I watched it, something I never thought I would see. I guess he's all out of "bad luck". However it will allways be remembered for me as the day Mark Webber won (and rammed Rubens)a seriously bit of dodgy driving, you would have thought the world championship was hanging on who got to the first corner in front. He was pretty happy "You F*ing bloody beauty" I heard him say on the radio at one stage after he crossed the line and was having a fit

Yes a good drive, well done to him.
A brilliant drive in what is arguably the most brilliant car in the field this year, even without the "double decker" rear difuser they were a match for the Brawn. now they are in a league of there own. a BIGto Webber and the guy who designed the car.
considering the drive through penatly, that would almost be considered a dominant drive, not so much a maiden win. now lets see if Redbull can take there maiden championship. with the likes of Ferrari/Mclaren and others now nipping at the heals of the Brawns the Redbulls may still be in with a chance

And Schuie NEVER drove like that hey.......... (He would have rather crashed than lost a run to the first corner.)
To me it was a "man on a mission". With the the way the cars behave following other cars in 2009 - You almost HAD to be in front at the first corner to have any change of winning a race.
Lucky for Mark the fastest cars got stuck behind fat fuel cars and could not make a pass.

As Webber said, he lost vision of Rubens and it wasn't until they touched he realised where he was, which is why he accepted responsibility in the interview for the penalty. You can clearly see that once they do touch and the car quickly jags back again.
Have to say, to do a drive through on top of the strategy is rather impressive to still win.

Yes Schumacher did drive like that early in his carreer (when it was a do or die kind of race), but sooo not when he was Webbers age. I don't believe he couldn't see Rubens, That wasn't on the racing line way and no way he should have been there if he thought he was in clearly in front. It was a good drive but still, You don't swerve off line like that just for fun and I still think he's shifty as![]()
Nope - well before the brake zone - rubins could have moved over too if he wanted to - he did not want to yeild either.
So far ever time an issue like this has come up the driver says the same thing - could not see.
I think it cudo's to Mark for showing that he WAS going to win this race attitude - so get out of my way.
You would need both hands and then some to count how may times Mark has been pushed out of the way. (I have watch almost every rave from 1995) So I've seen it happen heaps.

Yeah but I've watched most races since 1982 including most of Webbers Formula Ford races where he wasn't all that genius (nothing like say Lowndes was during his time there, he was/is a much better driver), so I don't know how come you have such a different theory about him than me :P, he not even from Adelaide!![]()
I would not put Lownds and Webber in the same class - sorry. Lowndes is a great tin top racer - and very popula bloke to boot.
Mark Webber is racing against the best drivers in the work and has a great car at last. So he wins a race and you pooh hoo him. Not good form Greenfoam.
And for all the Lewie lovers (current world champ) - he finished last on the road. He has a shit car this year and is no where in the F1 points and has made heaps of mistakes this year.

I'm not pooo hoooing anyone I'm just saying he's not a great driver, which he isn't, he's not naturally as fast as Lowndes let alone any of the great F1 drivers. It was a good drive (apart from ramming Rubens) and I was happy to see him win one, but he's had heaps of chances to have a good drive before and most of the time hes stuffed it up driving beyond his limits. He's not a favorite driver of mine, I don't worry about what country someone is from. I'll allways apreciate the best drivers more than the average ones because I like to see the masters in action, that's why I watch F1. It's a pity there are no masters of driving in the field at the moment, You just have a few guys that's are very good but no one stands out as the best right now
1982! ???? man, thats a loooooooong time ago lol. would have had flintstones cars back then yeah?![]()
Flintstones with hair-dryers back then.
Well maybe we can agree to differ - I rate him very highly now and has the craft of F1 racing in the bag. The silly mistakes are gone, the team has stopped stuffing up the pit stops, stratergy is working, the car runs for more than 3 laps now, he qualifies as good as anyone in the feild and now he has some must win balls'e aggresion.
No I think as a F1 race driver he is as good as anyone else in the group now - and that group has 3 F1 world champs in it.

good on webber, met him when he first started at Jaguar and he came to our work as we had melbourne city jaguar there, nice guy, i'm glad he won, finally got a car that can stay in one piece for a whole racemakes for a good season of f1's with a few teams having wins now.
