V8s at Sandown

I was thinking of heading down to Sandown this weekend for the V8, never been to a meet before. WOndering if someone can give me the low down on prices, times and all the rest, cheers.

I havn't been to Sandown myself however i can give you my experience from going to meets at Eastern Creek, Oran Park, Bathurst, Indy, & Canberra.

Take a tone of money, what you don't spend on the entry ticket you will spend on food and murchandise. Tickets at Eastern Creek this year were $45, add a program to that and its an even $50. Expect Sandown to be higher though, its a bigger event being an enduro. Eg, Bathurst i think is $90 for Sunday general admission this year.

Pit passes are extra again, its a good idea to perhaps by 1 or two of them between a group and share it during the day. Always interesting to walk through the pits.

Food is overpriced and not the best so take your own if you can. take a load of drink, keep in mind they don't let you take alcohole into most events.

Unless you want to spend even more money on grand stand seats, take a chair. Good shoes is a must, lots of walking. Lots of sunscreen too but also pack an umbrella, best to prepaire for all conditions. At the creek we set up a tent thing on the final turn, not sure if you can do that at Sandown.

I would suggest sitting on a corner, the straight can get a bit boring except for the start and the end, watching the pits can be interesting so its your choice. i would recomend either turn 1 or the final turn, always exciting, but not sure of exact spectator positions at Sandown.

Get there really early, racing usually starts at around 10, we usually try to get there just after 7 to make sure we get a good spot.

Everything VSTrev is spot on. Go to www.sandownraceway.com.au for more info. Take food and soft drinks. Doubt you will get alcohol in. Take wet weather gear as predictions it will be wet and although grandstand is big, seats will be at a premium if wet. We had showers today however temp was good. V8 supercars due out 1.30pm til 3.00pm on Saturday including shootout and 9.30am warmup and 1.00pm 500km race on Sunday. Grandstand is in the general viewing area so is not extra. Form the grandstand you can see most of the track however turn 6 thru 9 is great as well.
