Default 2005 Sandown - A Great Edge Of Ya Seat NailBiter, V8's At Their Best

It's a shame that a Ford won (!), but what a great race. whether you are a ford or Holden Fan, there was entertainment for all.
Mark Skaife stated that it was one of the hardest races he has ever driven.
He did a great job of bringing #2 home in the face of disaster.
Good on the stewards for making a great descision to let Mark carry on.

Good on Rick Kelly for keeping SBR at bay during first part of Race.
His car was slightly slower, but he drove a great defensive racing line, mostly free of mistakes.

Feel sorry for Greg Murphy. So near to the end - but so far. bloody electrical faults.

Who cares. Sandown means nothing. The championship means nothing. It's all just testing and tuning for...

    The Bathurst 1000!!

...where Ford will once again recieve a healthy rogering from the Generals men. Sir Greg Murphy leading the charge.

If you disagree, you are wrong. So bite me.

    i care. Go the V8's.

yeah, i know, ya can't beat Bathurst. however, as a V8 supercar enthusiast, you can't say that SANDOWN means nothing. yes, it is a test & tune for Bathurst, but it is an important round of the V8's.

jetspin_vl, do you just take an interest in Bathurst???

go Sir Greg at Bathurst. would be good to see him win back to back, standing on podium with Mark & Todd, Garth & Rick.

I tip that Lowndes will be in the mix.

He may be a Ford driver but you have to hand it to Yvan Muller. That stint he did would have to be the best international drive in a V8 since John Cleland helped Brad Jones to second in the Ozemail car a few years back, even better I think.

Yes Peter Brock is the only man so far to win Bathurst three times in a row. Far as I am concerned, I don't care if Ford wins the Sandown and the championship as long as Holden wins Bathurst I don't really care.

V8 Supercars are generally considered the top dog of Australian motorsport. don't underate them.

It is a great spectator sport, BATHURST is definitely the race of the year, however, i don't plan to limit my V8 supercar calendar to one race per year.

The championship is based on consistency. it is a truly talented driver (with some good luck and management mixed in) who can win a championship.

    GO THE RED ROCKETS

To be brutally honest guys i was just happy the Skaify kept the commo pointing in the right direction. If he and Todd can do the same at Bathurst and perhaps raise the front ride hight slighlty, i think they will be hard to beat.

There are three things i want to hear from the channel 10 commentry on Bathurst Sunday
    1. Lap 1 Turn 1, Ingall out breaks himself into hell corner and ploughs into Ambrose sending them both off into the sandtrap and out of the race
    2. Lowndes unstable through the fast right hander after conrod. Way to quick into the chase, he clips the inside ripple strip. He's rolled, Roll Lowndsy Roll!!!
    3. Skaife & Kelly take the checkered flag.

Common, deep down you all want this to happen
    Now for a prayer...

To our god, who art made in Adelaide. Holden be thy name. Thy legends come, and championships won, on circuits as it is on Mount Panorama. Give us this day our daily grunt, and forgive us our burnouts, as we forgive those who choose to drive fords. Lead us into temptation, and deliver us a V8. For thine is the spirit, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
    HOLDEN!

Almost, Trev, almost. Except point 3, that should read: " Richards and Dumbrell take the win ahead of Skaife / Kelly with Murph and Paul Wheel taking the final spot on the podium..."
