Status quo
looks like tega have done a great job of handicapping the VE giving ford a great opportunity. this is simply wrong. how can you have a brand new car thats not really anyfaster then it was last year. i'm gutted

Its all about money , if the VE had too much of an advantage and you had maybe 9 holdens in the top 10 the ford fans wouldnt pay to come and watch that there for losing 50% of your income .They took a page out of F1 when schumacher was unbeatable and the crowd numbers and TV viewers started to dwindle

At the end of the day it's parity, I did hear that they were bringing in like a cap on R&D for the teams in a bid to help the teams which are not struggling but not as well known as the top teams which I think is a great idea. I guess the other side to it is the fact that the top team already have plenty of data to work with so it's going to be difficult to control.
In terms of the coverage the way the recent telecast showed on TV was anything to go by I can easily see viewers dwindling anyway.
Lets hope they can built on all the mistakes and move on.

parity, maybe but when the new car can't be faster then the old car it takes something away, where was the "parity" when SBR and ambrose where running away with the championship. the rules are now stacked in fords favour.

no, it should be up to the manufacturer and the teams to be able to produce a good car, if holden make a better car then ford then bad luck for ford, and EXACTLY the same in reverse, come on, ford have won heaps in the last year and tega didnt handicap ford, so y should they control holden. its wrong, bad luck to eitha of the 2 brands if they cant make a race winning car

when VT hit the track they penalised it and said it can't be faster then the older VS. when the new falcon hit the track did they remove the restrictions on the commodore, i think not, and the falcon had a clear advantage, now we have the VE and the restriction are there again. whats going to happen when ford bringout a new model falcon. nothing i bet. it's time they change the rules so the car is as the manufacturer intended. making holden changethe wheelbase means it's not a VE anymore. might as well have just putt he VE panels on last years chassis. it's great to see holden win and my old boss took great pleasure in reminding me everyday when ambrose was around, fair enough but if you follow the progress it looks like the holden camp always seem to have a short leash from tega where ford seems to do what they like. right now i recon a group A formula would be more interesting. and yeah we may loose when the new falcon comes out but thats life. i don't recon ford could design a better car then VE anyways as a production model

to me it just seems as everyone around here is bias towards holden.
'err, we get screwed all the time cos we are better waa waa'
id rather see holden get 'screwed' and have a more even race then see them win all the time. its called competition, it doesnt work if the odds are stacked against one side.
would you like to see a football game where the opposition has only half their side on the field? doubt it..

i would like to see the cars race as they come off the production floor, except with all the safety gear and roll bars what have you... but keep same suspension layout and engines, would be way more interesting IMO.

I'm a Ford fan all the way, doesn't stop me driving a Commodore. When the regulations were nutted out for the V8 Supercars they had to take all factors into account and make it an even as possible playing field. It's all well and good to say whoever makes the fastest production car should be the fair winner but we all know that the cars on the track are far from production. When the cars have to be within certain parameters it makes for a more enjoyable watching experience. I admit I wasn't happy when Holden were winning all the time but it didn't make me want to watch it any less. The AU had styling changes to slow it down, I didn't cry about it, I knew it was to make it safer and the racing more competitive. When you have an independent body regulating the cars you will always have one camp feeling they are hard done by. Stop your crying, buy your merchandise and sit down for an exciting year of competition.
