Just wondering if we have some genuine racers here.
No not the one’s who race down a 60kms suburban road at 150kms but get in to a real race car.
Tell us which sport and type of vehicle..
Well I help my mate with his saloon car racing (AU falcon), and I'm building up a rally car (VK 202) of my own so that I may one day be able to compete in some rallies, but yeah it would be interesting to know who does some racing on here.
will be doing some hillclimbs/motorkhana/whatever i can get a chance to do with the bmw once its on the road(bmw e21 m10 1.8ltr 4cyl)
EH stock car on dirt - just a few years ago now (like 25 years now) Bugga I'm getting old - but I miss it

Here is a pic of my mate racing his AU (No.24)
The action gets pretty intense especially for the AU v.s VT category, seeing as all the experienced racers are in that category.
might have a drift toy ( as in a real car not a r/c! ) in the next month, just for cutting laps around mallala and have some fun in every couple of months.
We got rep back, yaaay!
I kind of meant a race car that’s only for the track with safety gear and roll cage.
A rally car can be driven on the road but still has a roll cage..
Most vehicles will be trailered to a track where you need a fire suite and helmet and be the actual driver with a cams license.
And the word here is YOU not your best mates wifes uncle twin brother

Friend of mind races those weird looking car things with the slanted roof driving drifting around the mud track...Can't remember what they call them, but I don't have any pictures
my car will be trailered to every track bar the one 2ks from my house. i will need a cams licence, helmet, but not a firesuit for most hillclimb tracks(as far as i know). no, car wont have a cage, as that will stop me being able to drive it on the road any time i want.
next time, specify in your FIRST post what you want, rather than sooking when people give you dont want.
race car..? hell yeah
it does hillclimbs..like Haunted Hills
long distance stuff...like the 6hr at Phillip Is
and club sprints
like Sandown...or Winton
and all done in my backyard...
brakes to suspension to engine....
oh...and this lil black duck has the requisite CAMS licence
and is a member of the Holden Car Club!
cheers

Yep... been rallying my 5 Lt VB for about 5 years now. Yes... have the CAMS licence and all that stuff. Car is solidly caged, with mini spooled Ford 9 inch. I also am a codriver in the South Australian Rally Championships in a potent Mitsi VR4 with all the goodies. Rally cars are still race cars... mine has a completely adjustable front end, and Holley 650 etc... I trailer it to most events as with all rally cars, there is fair chance it won't be able to be driven home. I have some more info about the car in the "My Ride" section, with a pic or two.
The fun of having B-rego here in W.A, it allows cars used for road rallying (like Targa events) to be registered. All my cars have been, it allows movement from home to events or workshop. But the car has to be CAMS logbooked.
Building a VH up at the moment. Hopefully be ready for Targa West next year.
Hot Lap Motorsport
Interesting. No drag racers have posted yet.
I'm building my VT up for Super Sedan and Super Gas classes.
2800 pounds and 1000hp should be good for 8's
i race 100cc sprint karts all around SA and western VIC, does that count?

haven't raced, but have helped out in the pits in improved production raceing (was on a volvo, ex workmates car), mate and i are thinking of building a vk race car, next year sometime, when he gets back from overseas and get our cars paid out to start fresh, were going to do it a couple of years ago with a vk, had the car but didn't have the funds to get it up and running, damn apprentice wages.
how much roughly does it cost to get a car like an old commodore vk-vs 5ltr up to scratch to race in like improved production or any other good classes that would suit, i.e, round by round, wheels, tyres and number of sets, fuel for each round, etc.
Man the only place to race is on a track, I am heavily into Dirt circuit and if you need to know what it’s all about follow the string DIRT CIRCUIT OF SA (Powered by Invision Power Board) and have a look at, about your car, section, Lone Wolf Racing. Ill see if I am smart enough and do a post with some pics.
Rob Flounders![]()
I ve been racing on the dirt from the age of 14, Auto Cross, where I have Progressed into Off Roading, Rallying, Go Karts at speed way, and in the last 5 years Dirt Circuit South Aust.
The original Off Road Baja, last meeting flinders 400 1996
Make over for Circuit Racing
On the Track
Same car but complete makeover using MX5 front end and GTiR SR20DET engine, running Autronic ECU Dynoed to 246Kw (lot of work)
Making my own wishbone rear end
Fitting the 330 horse's
Shortining Half shafts
Last minute things
RB32 front struts work better
Car on track rounding up another 350 chev
Your's Truly
Then I wasn’t happy with that I found the power of the GTiR engine was to much to leave it there, so imported a complete car (GTiR) and space framed it, ran full fiberglass body etc etc and we call this Budget Racing. Just a quick insight to other peoples worlds.
Shame to cut it up
Making the Cage. Nascar type.
Afew clips and presto the bodys off
Now some pictures on the track.
Through and time to poor it on
And just so you know how it is

Catch you next time![]()
Race speedway (Street Sedan Division) but unable to race this season as i am working away at the moment.
It is good fun and probably one of the cheaper forms of entry level racing you can get into.
Build all my cars from scratch.
Will upload a couple of build pics too!
