Default 3.0 litre V6 for the Commodore

    Commodore to get 3.0-litre V6 - www.drive.com.au

    I reckon it'll be the 3.0 DI LF1 which is 190Kw.

if you can get almost as much power out of a 3 litre then go for it. DI make a big difference.

Well if you are going to build big slugs you may as well make one that doesn't use so much fuel

they're using the 3.6 litre version in the 2010 camaro and it's good for 305HP. Not bad for a 6.

Caddy will have this lineup so hopefully Holden get that LLT motor. http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=21505

In addition to a more efficient motor, Holden REALLY need to look at making a lighter car

Why in gods name would they go back to that style of filter when the current v6 has a cartridge type mounted on the side/top area of the passenger head just under the engine cover. So bloody easy to change, no more than 1 minute if you know what a socket is

here's the 3.6 litre version rated at 227kw. read that this motor uses a cartridge style filter that looks like it's a little lower than the one on the 3.0 litre.

The way i see it going from the ecotec to the alloytec you needed alot more revs to go places do dropping engine sizes again regardless of di in such a fat assed car is going to need even more revs. Not terribly smart

that LLT motor is a basic copy of what the vz/ve use, although the heads and inlet manifold are different to accommodate the DI they make 227kw and 367nm? on 87 octane fuel, with an economy of around 9.2L 100km

that 3.0 motor is an alloytec derivative but is suited to fwd, so i doubt that will be used in the commo as it is staying rwd for much longer

I wouldn't have a problem with them using the 3.6di donk because it would totally shit all over previous holden 6's, if they go with the 3ltr that would be gay

Smaller the engine is the gayer it sounds usually. But totally in terms of grunt I mean. Rotarys sound mad but nothing like a V8.

Brad, even if it puts out the same amount of power it would inherently put out less torque. This issue hasn't been mentioned yet.

no not at all, look at all those german diesel's etc, yes i know different power characteristics but, 1.9-2.0L motors are putting out 320+nm of torque, more than the current commodores

But Holden is australian and it would be the same technology we are currently seeing? And as you stated it's a petrol engine not a diesel so it's not exactly in the same league .

i prefer the sound of the vw vr6 motors to any holden 6 and they range from 2.8 to 3.6ltr
