not a bad result for the HSV
We bitch and moan about crappy this and the other cars do that but to be honest - we are spoiled in this country.......
Wheels - Strip show - 370Z v HSV R8Strip show - 370Z v HSV R8
The 6.2-litre V8 gently rocks the HSV Clubsport on its springs, ready to kick big-bore sand in the new face of the lightweight Nissan 370Z. To outsiders, it looks like the Nissan has shown up on the wrong test day. But the Zed is here, facing off against an archetypical Aussie muscle car, because it has in fact outgrown its own sandpit.
Its predecessor, the 350Z, had recorded a best to 100km/h of 5.8 seconds and 13.8 for the standing 400 metres. While avoiding specifics, Nissan's Japanese boffins suggest their new charge is easily quicker, capable of 0-100km/h in sub-5.0sec. Our initial seat-of-the-pants impressions heap scorn on that claim, but, even with just 2000km on the odo, the new 370 certainly feels more urgent.
Like Nissan, HSV optimistically claims a sub-5.0-second 0-100km/h time – 4.96sec to be precise – for its E-Series range of sedans (Clubsport, Senator and GTS). In reality, we’ve seen everything from 5.2sec in a GTS to 5.7sec in Clubsport.
Though we’re expecting this mismatched pair to deliver similar times, it’s impossible to ignore their spec differences. The HSV’s 317kW represents 23 percent more power than the Zed’s 245kW, but at 1812kg, the Clubbie is 19 percent heavier. Bottom line is similar power-to-weight ratios – 175kW per tonne for the HSV and 167kW/tonne for the Zed (just 4.5 percent in favour of the HSV).

No so long ago a high 13 sec car was highly modified. Now we are talking low 13 straight off the showroom floor. Amazing stuff.

Good time for the R8 but the Z would get you more girls![]()
Not much of a difference in price either. As well as that, it would be a more practical car than the Z for carrying passengers and luggage.
Reaper - would the Z really qualify as a "ricer" - I thought that title belonged to noisy, over-decorated little shitboxes with Altezzas, canons, lots of "doof doof" and idiots behind the wheel.

hi:
Does anyone know about how many seconds from 0-100km/h for VE SS auto? and if comparing between VE SS auto and VZ clubsport LS2 6 litre, which one is better? Coz I saw they have the same torque. just one is old HSV with 4 speed auto, one is the current shape with 6 auto. thanks.
awesome time. but wonder wat the track times look like.
corners are so much better then stomping the accel and holding the car straight.
We're spoilt? Bullshit we are.
Supercharged V8 version for the poms, now THAT is spoilt!

there is a lot of hype around high powered cars and their relation to deaths on Aussie roads...
I'm not so certain that we will ever get a Supercharged V8 in Australia simply because there is too much negative hype about high powered cars....but hey i could be wrong....lets hope i am![]()
I don't quite understand whats going on here, isn't the supercharged V8, in the VE's in Europe just a walkinshaw performance vehicle? not actually a Holden assembled V8 Supercharged? therefore it wouldn't matter where you live because you guys over there can buy these anyway
Walkinshaw Performance - Dealers
and also to your other point there is already another FACTORY car V8 Supercharged in OZ
Land Rover AU - Range Rover Sport - Overview
both cars can be bought in OZ and are extremely fast (boss has the sport and its insane in a large vehicle like that to move that fast)
lol@range rover sport.
sif fast. thing weighs 3 tonne. needs a supercharger to move it. it also needs a fuel truck to follow it around to school when your wife goes to pick up the kids and hold up traffic trying to turn right on a busy 40km per hour road...
Yea I would've said the same thing, we've got a HSV GTS Monaro 300kw, and it doesn't feel much slower than that. but yes agreed they are the p**s ya off kind of cars when its just richy rich driving them. But put a 50yr old bogan having a midlife crisis in it and jesus scary going that fast in a 4wd, oh and i think you'll find its the fastest vehicle (maybe BMW X6) that can tow 3500kgs.
Yea he would prefer a Holden, but you can't get a holden to tow 3500kgs well not legally over here (not a cool one anyway) so options are limited for some people.
