HOLDEN will more than triple V6 engine output in Melbourne in a multi-million dollar deal to sell its engines to China.
The company is expected to increase production from 6000 engines a year to 20,000 in the next four years.
The engines will go to Shanghai General Motors, a joint venture partnership between General Motors and the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.
They are expected to be used in a range of GM China cars, including the Buick Park Avenue, a model based on the Holden Statesman.

Good, maybe now we can get the 195 5 speed auto standard, and the DI V6 in Sv6 up.
Maybe even this TT 2.8lt V6 they talk about - with 290kw ?. Either way we should get better packages i hope.
I thought the title of the post meant they were putting more power into the V6 by three fold.....bugger. Interesting reading though.
It wont happen. Ive been to china many times. no engines over 3.0 are allowed, except some with exceptions such as mercedes or the odd beamer. It would have to be significantly downsized by holden before they ship it over. There is no room on the roads in China for a good powered car.
what about the toyota v8 arnt they 4l or so
they will only need to send a few motors across before china copies them and stops the imports
