    Default Walkinshaw E2 extracts 480kW and 802Nm

New supercharger kit for HSV’s LS3 V8 available now for almost $50,000

    15 February 2010
    By MARTON PETTENDY
WALKINSHAW Performance has released an ‘E2 Supercar’ kit for HSV owners desiring “that little bit extra” from their vehicles, headlined by a black-finished WP190 supercharger that extracts no less than 480kW of power and 802Nm of torque from GM’s 6.2-litre Chevrolet LS3 V8.

Priced at an equally surprising $49,920 and offered with a full no-cost drivetrain warranty for vehicles still under HSV’s new-car warranty, the E2 package also comprises WP’s new carbon-fibre fender vents, bonnet scoop, mirrors and hood header, a WP three-inch bi-modal exhaust system, WP lowered suspension kit, unique new WP 20-inch alloy wheels, unique WP engine covers, mats and head restraints and a WP carbon-fibre low-series spoiler.

“To be able to extract up to 480kW from the 6.2 litre Chevrolet LS3 V8 engine will make the Walkinshaw E2 Supercar a true collector’s item and a lot of fun to drive,” said WP’s national sales manager Tony Harris.

Covered by what is claimed to be another new performance industry-first is an optional $660 warranty for WP’s ‘power pack’ upgrade, which includes a ‘catback’ exhaust, cold air intake and ECU recalibation. WP supercharger packages start from $16,980.

“It’s a great car which is a heap of fun to drive and really stands out on the road,” said WP program engineer Alan Hale. “To be able to back that up with a new warranty offering sets a new standard for the Australian performance car industry.”

Surely somebody must sell Calais body kits you can throw on to improve the looks. That makes TRD's Aurion look sophisticated.

The body-kit could use a few tweaks but generally I like it. The bonnet scoops need to be a bit more subtle and work into the bonnet more, the mags are definitely shit for that style car, and the horizontal bars in the fog lights need to be replaced with mesh or anything else.

I love it.I don't think that it's ugly, or that anything is out of place. It would definately stand out that's for sure.Just look at certain cars in the past, VL Walkinshaw, VN Group A, probably widely critised for their looks back in the days aswell...

I think they mean it's $50K on top of the cost of the car

...which sounds way over-priced to me.

Its not that expensive when you think about it.

How much would you fork out to strap a supercharger kit to your car? I'm not talking about a DIY job in the backyard, but a fully engineered kit thats backed up by a drivetrain warranty, plus suspension, exhaust, wheels and body kit. Add to that the profit margin and labor costs, it doesn't seem that unreasonable.

    Still ugly though.

One could spend a lot more for a less powerful, less reliable and less unique supercar......
I'd have a Walky if i was spending $130K on a car.... Plus apparantly it's got enough manners to be driven every day....

I'd have the blower done. Do the suspension work myself. GTS larger brake option. Don't like the rims, but like the warranty.

They could just build one above the GTS for $15,000 extra. Maybe a GTS-R.

Or, they could just save themselves time and money, whilst keeping the rest of us happy, and offer it as a tick the box option on the VE Omega !

Which would mean bringing in the V8 as an option for the Omega also, but we all know everyone wants that too.Holden if your reading this post, take note.

I think the wheels are definitely not suited, the bonnet scoops look a bit over the top....... probably would look better blended into the bonnet more, the side skirts....... whats up with that, they need to sort them out...... look a little weird as they fade off.

The front ........ somethings just not quiet right, I think perhaps less of a slope (so it's more flat at the front, would make it meaner looking.... bit more serious) ......... diff headlights may be the way to go.

    -=-

But in all seriousness..... all the VE Commodores....... WHAT IS UP WITH THOSE WHEEL ARCHES! It looks like a goofy dog smiling.

I hate the rear arial..... it's like a dog with a little tail sticking up......

I love the car for sure, it's a beast but........ looks wise, needs to be refined. They've had like 4-5 years now to fix those stupid wheel arches........

Holden beleive ......... if another car pulls up beside you....... that car would kill it off the line which is fine. But there are many cars "faster" then that..... then need to work on things as a whole......

I hope for Australia's sake holden improve the look of the VE's..... as I would love to see more 'positive' clips of it on Top Gear.

They need to make like a 4.2-6.2ltr new double overhead cam V8 with possible turbo's (more efficent, newer technology), fix the VE shape in parts......... then they'll be on the map world wide with all the goods.

Other then that........ I hope they build some new tech into their v6's..... supercharge, turbo..... perhaps a true power button across all cars (which switches tunes on the fly) ...... for economy vs power vs launch etc.

All these things are not seriously expensive, they are not out of reach.....

That said......... Holden do make fun, cool cars........ n we love em.

PS. Fix the A frame...... more rear passenger space, lower the rear a tad, more rear window (so it doesn't slope back to the massively high boot)....... lower the boot a tad. They took the VZ commodore shape and turned it into the Mitsubshi 380 frame....... not cool.

They VE is a great looking car, It does need to be updated (as its been about 4 years since it came out) which my mate who works at Holden's has told me it will soon. He said think of it as the "VT to VX upgrade..."
HSV on the otherhand need to go back to the drawing board with their exterior styling as the previous E series was actually better looking...
If they want to compete with euro cars they should look at the E65, M5, RS6 etc... and see how simple their styling is, which looks good...
They should improve their interiors as well with better quality materials like real alloy, carbon fiber, more leather and less plastic...
    IMO
