The Commodore looks set to regain its drawl, with US exports of the iconic Australian large car imminent, writes Bruce Newton.
The Holden Commodore appears odds-on to return to the US with a Chevrolet badge and it should happen within the lifespan of the current model.
A senior engineer for General Motors, Al Oppenheiser, confirmed to Drive at the Los Angeles motor show this week that negotiations were under way to sell the Commodore in North America as a Chevrolet sports sedan
Still Holden on to the dream.

That actually looks really good.
Usually the American variants look like arse.
Great news!!
Shit thats nice, all the ones they made pontiacs/G8 or whatever looked ugly as hell to me, still would look better with no badge, mirrors look crappy and the reflectors in the bumper look out of place.
Would love to see more pics of this though.
Love the bonnet, the GTO ones are gay.
To all the people who have Chevrolet badges, time for payback to the nay Sayers.
Ps: Chevrolet badges are still gay as aids.
No, see Chevrolet don't export Commodores to Australia, its the other way around. So putting the badge on an Australian Commodore is retarded.
Both manufactures are apart of the GM tree, It would make logical sense to have GM badges over Chev.
man that car looks awesome but why dont they put holden bages on it and call it A HOLDEN thats what car it is I dont get it.
They should use that front end out here!
Just read over the comments.
"If this gets exported and sold in the US with a Chevrolet badge, I wonder if the owners will replace that badge with a Holden one? We could start up an exchange program.

I actually really like that. The headlights and the new bonnet look great.
i reckon that looks better then the ones here. that front end is sexx
Bout time the American version is actually plausible... Just gimme that scoop freaking hot!
Holden has been doing the rebadging of other brands for years. the 1991 "Holden" Barina was actually a Suzuki swift. Most Astra's were Vauxhauls, and the Epica is some sort of Korean KIA thing, and so is the Viva. Imagine how well Astra's would have sold having the Opel badge - most ignorant people would shy away from a brand they don't know.
Holden aren't just rebadging it to piss you off - it's about time you realised this.
looks good , probly even better then the AUS front lol
looks like sex on wheels, shame its only a photoshop
okay.. they can have the commodore, but those bastards at GM better folk over the camaro next year!!
So how long will it take that grill to end up on someones ss ?. Anyway that front looks good. Not trying to ugly it up just to look different.
Plenty of the gto guys in the u.s converted their cars to the holden look. But here its got out of control this chev badge craze. Now the v6 brigade have joined in. can't remember the last time I seen a ss ssv holden badge on the road.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
thats what the series II should have looked like, minus the chev badge.
