The 09 Fiesta is from Germany until next year, my wife has one, it's x 10 awesome, can't fault it in anyway

But why did you bother saying it in the first place, you actually quoted him saying it so that you could say it yourself??
You quote him saying "The new Fiesta is made in Germany and will be until the end of the year, then the Australian cars will come from the (not ready yet) plant in Thialand."
Then post "Fiesta will be from Thailand when the plant is up and running." Hmmm lol
Whether they are built in South Africa or Thailand, the quality is still well above the Holden imports. Why can Ford build a quality car out of these countries and Holden cannot? Why can Ford afford to import Euro cars (i.e Mondeo, Fiesta atm) and sell them at a competitive price, but Holden cannot (i.e. Astra)?
I just got to test drive the new Cruze prior to the launch!
The dealer had one just for today so the salesmen can do their training with it. The car is doing the rounds of all Sydney dealerships ATM.
I must say, overall I'm impressed. I think Holden is onto a winner here. I drove the top of the line CDX and it has ALL the bells and whistles for $23,990. Good looking thing in the flesh too IMO. Fit and finish was good - a lot better than I expected. The only thing that let it down somewhat was the auto gearbox but that's ok, we're looking at getting a manual anyway.
So pending a test drive of a manual whenever they can get one, my missus might be cruze-ing in a Cruze...

The diesel has a six speed auto available - I can see that being the one to get if you are after economy and equipment. About the only thing I wasn't fussed about was the design of the standard steels and the up-spec alloy wheels. They do nothing for its appearance.
From what I have read in the papers so far, the Holden manufactured version to come on line next year will have styling differences. Build it right and it will sell well in a highly competitive sector of the market
I have a holden cruze 2004, anyonoe have parts? i need the left hand door and the bonnet, please update me with prices and locations, thanks guys![]()

things i liked:
* overall look
* interior especially upfront, the centre stack and instrument clust are sweeeeet
* it feels and looks smaller then it is (like the VE) (good and bad thing actually)
* the door sound when it closes
* the steering wheel
things i didn't like:
*cloth dash, does this change to leather when trim is leather? imagine this would be hard to keep clean and would fade.
*upfront you feel 1st class, in the back you are definately in econmy, come one GM and Holden soft touch plastics all the way through.
* the back needs to be a little 'squarer' , and option of a little spoiler.
But anyway i talked mum into sitting in an Sv6 she said she loved big cars and that day we ended up ordering an Atomic SS 6 speed lol

I think that's the one thing about this car that I'm not keen on. It's the same with "Viva", which has now been stuck on two very ordinary, mundane and boring cars made forty years apart, but both were junk.
The names "Cruze" and "Viva" should be consigned to the dust-bin. Surely they can be more creative and come up with a new name for a new car.
vn2nv's girlfriend and my wife both have one of these, that's why we are biased towards Ford with small cars :0, it's pretty much non-improvable, well more power coldn't hurt but apart from that it's flawless

Yeah, it's a shame we don't get the latest Euro small cars from Holden anymore. The latest Corsa and Astra, and the Insignia mediu, would eat any Daewoo.

But have you driven or looked at one up close? I've driven my gf's a few times and been in it countless times, and whilst i've only sat in a Cruze, not driven one as yet, there really isn't much of a comparison imo. Whether or not that changes when they stop importing the Fiesta from Germany and import it from Thailand im not sure.
The Astra sold in decent amounts, much higher than any of the daewoo small cars anyway.
