Default Selling TWO VN V6 engines

    Hey there guys,

Im selling 2 engines out of both my Vn commodores. Here is some info about them.

Location: Riverstone NSW 2765 or may be possible to pickup from Leichhardt 2040.

    Engine ONE: (Series One Auto)
This engine is in great condition, and the ONLY reason im selling is because i didnt know it had a different crankshaft to the manuals. This was out of my old car which had approx 150,000 on the clock and was in mint cond... The car had one owner and i had plans of putting it in my current car. Im asking 500 dollars for it but will consider all offers as it needs to go.

    Engine TWO: (Series One Manual)
This is the engine out of my current car that i removed last week to make room for the first engine. This engine still runs well without smoke, but i removed as it started making some pretty bad noises. It had always had noisy lifters but the noises and problems were getting louder and more common. This engine will be open to all offers.

Both engines are out of the cars and come complete. Please dont hesitate to ask any questions via PM or phone. You are welcome to come and inspect the motors. Im looking for a fairly quick sale as they are both sitting at my mechanic and taking up space. I towed my car out until i find a new manual engine for myself, just need to move the two engines.

Mate the auto and manual engines are the same. VN series 1 motor has a 6 bolt crank which in turn needs a 6 bolt flywheel. VN series 2 onwards had an 8 bolt crank which takes an 8 bolt flywheel. You can also get an adapter to convert a 6 bolt to an 8 bolt. Not sure if you already knew this but it may help you when looking for engines.

Wait until someone else chimes in as there may be something i'm missing. What confuses me is that if they're both series 1 engines they should both be identical and have identical cranks. If one of them is a series two then it's a matter of getting the appropriate flywheel to suit, OR getting an adapter to use your existing flywheel.

I was told by a few mechanics that "stupid holden" made the engiens in a stupid way. The series one auto has a different crankshaft to the rest of them and cannot be put on a manual at all.

As far as i'm aware there was never an engine made for manual only. The mechanics are probably referring to the fact that the VN S1 was the only engine in the second generation of holdens to have a 6 bolt crank. Basically if you want a no fuss solution, get the same engine as you're removing. If you're pulling out a VN S1 engine, get another VN S1 engine.

Well then you need an engine from another VN S1. I feel quite sure that the other engine you've got is a S2 engine. Go check the back of the cranks for yourself.

They will both be S1 engines, refer to the following thread. All S1 engines had a 6 bolt flange but auto and manual engines had them set out in different diameters. S2 onwards all had the same common 8 bolt flange.

    V6 Crankshaft Info

Ive got a auto S1 engine in my car with a 5 speed manual behind it using a crank adapter. But to my knowledge there is no adapter to use a manual engine with a auto.

It is also possible to chnage the cranks on the engine but that would cost a bit to get done.

The adapter was just over $300.

All true words. I have just been through it.

Adapter was about $340 plus $20 postage (come with spigot bush Castlemain Rod Shop), plus 6 new crank bolts. S1 Auto and manual crank ends ARE different to each other and both 6 bolt.

Anyone that buys the Auto S1 engine will also need a 6 bolt flywheel.
