I end up pulling alot of 128k eproms out of memcals when I upgrade them for use in VR-S 5 litres and such and they are going to waste here so If you 100% want one programed with the same tune greenvn and benny run in thier cars and are making down to 7L/100 on the highway cruise or slightly less in bennys case in his manual I think, as you would expect the cars fuel system needs to be in good nick to cut the line that fine (it's not that fine a line but still you get the idea) so new fuel filters and clean injectors are in order. But for those this suits, just put your username here and I'll send you a message as time permits, It's a DIY thing and there's no socket it's just the old fashioned undo the old one and solder in this one, I have 20 or 30 old eproms kicking around at least so there's no need to panic. But I think the time is right to turn VN/P V6's into fuel saving machines since that's probably their main purpose in life at this time (cheap transport) but make no mistake it's still a performance tune and it will drink plenty of juice if driven hard, but you get the option how far to push your foot
Cost is $10 inc postage
Hoodie
I'll give it a try. Hope my hands/eyes are up to soldering it in lol.
Mate i'm interested in one to please.
centy
can you do anything for my vr?
hey mate ive got a vp calais i'd love to get the fuel consumption down heavy irs 3.08 diff and auto trans r pretty bad around town will it help around town or only open road?
dan
its about the same round town but goes way harder... i regularly see between 6.5-7 litres per hundred on the highway in my VP 5 speed sitting on 110 km/h
did a touch under 950 k's of pure highway driving between Berri and Whyalla on a tank
just make sure you have really really clean injectors and no intake manifold air leaks and all will be good
my mates got a VP manual if you can help him out? he isn't a member, but im kind of speaking on his behalf.
Yeah, I'd like one, you selling these on ebay or???
Sorry, double post.

To update - round town the 88 Green wagon (almost 2000kms of city driving) = 10.6 L/100kms
I'll bet not many VN's are getting that sort of return.
The 89 Green sedan is using 14.2 L/100 (same tune) driven to school 1km each morning and night cold cold cold & very short trips. + motor still haS a small miss - getting better but a miss all the same.
Forgot the tranny is slipping too when cold - like revs to 3000rpm if you put to much right foot in.
That cant help fuel ecconomy

Hey greenfoam just wondering if you have recieved the money/if the eprom had been sent yet?
cheers dan
the darkness. just bought a vp v6 5 speed for work and play purposes so keen on one of these
Hey I've caught up with my things to do list and sent all those from the first replies, I see there's a couple more
Recieved the eprom today mate thanks alot will installe it saturday and let ya know how it goes.
cheers dan
if i can get a memcal and send it to you, how much extra for you to solder it in. reckon i'll screw it up myself lol
chip is in took a few goes to get it right the solder joints have to be pretty good or the engine light is on fan runs and overfuels like crazy once sorted tho there was definate improvement in fuel economy will know for sure next tank as i been doin sum performance testing. I wudnt say it goes heaps harder but the top end is abit stronger especially 4000rpm+. the only slight prob i have is overdrive now kiks in around 75kmh which is abit of a pain at 75-80 the revs are just too low and wont pull up any sorta incline. other than that for 10buks pretty happy will pay itself off in 1 or 2tank full i rekon.
cheers dan
after one for the gf car , all it does is commute to the station and back and trips to the shop and with the price of fuel now its not good
so just need and all round economy tune
does your tune run 91 ok or needs 95+ ? any other mods or just stock ?
Hi Greenfoam, not sure if you are still doing this but I've got a weird one for you...
I have a Series 2 V6 (late Vn or VP maybe?) in a Toyota Landcruiser. I would be interested in trying one of these economy tunes that you have created. Would this be ok since there is such a difference in final drive, weight and the fact that I am in New Zealand?
Obviously I wouldn't get the same results but anything better than I am getting now would be awesome
Anyway, I may be able to get a couple of memcals from the local wrecker as a swap that I could post to you if you are still wanting some spares? If cash is the better option then I'd just need to figure out the best way to pay money across the ditch.
Does this site have any sort of messaging function? Im new here!
Cheers
Just thought I'd give a bit more detail.
Its running the factory 3800 VN/VP Auto with adaptor plate to the Toyota transfer case and the rest of the drivetrain is factory Lancruiser (1986 BJ73). Final Drive is 4.1 but the tyres are 33" diameter. I don't have a revcounter fitted yet so no idea how many revs its doing.
Tuned length extractors, no cat, 2.5" all the way through to freeflow muffler. Soon to have CAI (read: 3" snorkel out the gaurd!).
Looking into fitting an SC14 with the standard pulley to add a bit more torque since it weighs well over 2tonne (2.5 i think). But that won't be for a while yet - I am guessing your economy tune will be too lean to run 3psi later on?
So yeah, let me know if you are at all interested.

Foamy i'm interested in a tune for my VP V6 if you still have some of these left?
