I need to buy another Battery for my SLR. Just as A spare for "emergencies".
I was looking at ones from Canon- (I have a 500D) and I'll need a Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery #LP-E5
I had a Quick search for the orig Canon ones and they are $52.
There are the generic ones on Ebay (LP-E5) around the $6 mark from China.
My question is, has any one used the generic brand batteries with their cameras and what could be the worse that could happen using one (worst case scenario)
I'm thinking about Splurging the cheapy one but just wanted to see if there was a reason I shouldn't..
Thanks in Advance..
If it was anything other than a Canon SLR, I would say give the cheapy a shot. But in an expensive camera, I wouldn't bother cutting corners. Last thing you want is a leak![]()

i got one, it seems to work fine, but i only use it as an emergency. i dont leave my batteries in the camera when its not in use anyways.
lol, dont go cheap...they dont last as long and they DO get jammed.

Thanks for your replies. I just wanted to kinda make sure I wasn't just paying for the brand.
I guess $52 isn't that much considering the cost of the thing it has to power. lol
I'd hate myself for ruining my cam or having to get it sent for repairs because I stinged out on a battery.
