so far i have the 4-1's, just need the x-pipe, mufflers and tube and itll look like thatdebating HPC coating but prolly wont bother.
im happy as! but the brake flare tool i bought is SHIT and now am stressing cos i cant make my brake lines
the ginger beer told me if I wanted an engineers on my project a licensed brake fitter must make the brake lines.

Proud of myself, I knew I did good with it. But there you go...
You got yourself an easy fix ^_^

so rather than do the logical thing which would have been to buy the parts i need to start rebuilding my new TH700-R4, i would buy crappy little things i would need to install it. so i got:
stainless steel kick down cable:
alloy brake pedals and stainless steel throttle cable:
4th gear torque lock up kit:
and of course the literature i need to get the build going:
also changed the transmission mount the otherday which has completely sorted out my wobbling at speed. it seems that the trans was shaking side to side which would get a lot worse if i went over bumps. INSTANT successdrives like a dream now.
so what i need to do now is order a new 4 speed detent, column mount cable kit, 13 vein pump and gasket set. i need to cut the trans x-member mount off my chassis and weld it back on in the correct position. THEN i will send the tailshaft off to get chopped and rebalanced.
also got a new panfilter for the powerglide, so i can sell it in good condition.
anyone want a powerglide? what you reckon i would get for it on ebay?
$50 my offer... and i'll throw a th700![]()

also, get this. cutting, rebuilding and rebalancing a tailshaft is around 400 bucks, VPW sell a complete chromeoly BRAND NEW tailshaft with HD yokes and unis for 450 bucks!!! you just gotta wait a few weeks to get it. not sure if i am or not. dunno if i wanna wait 6-8 weeks
whats 6 weeks more ? i think youd be much better getting a new shaft as long as it fits....

so i got some new toys myself. here is the reason you pay so much for lokar stuff compared to other brands:
shame its just gonna fade tucked away on the end of my steering column, but meh. right now its beautiful
so some bits:
got:
kickdown cable
throttle cable
throttle pedal
column detent plate (wrong one, wast of 50 bucks)
carby kickdown linkage
carby kickdown cable bracket
th700-r4 rebuild kit
new pump
and now all i need is motivation.
oh ps, yeah i am running a holleyand have been since day 1.
Wait, what? No Quaddy? You have to be shitting me...
Honestly, you can get a lot of carb for your money nowadays.
Yeah, although I could have saved about 2000 dollars in fuel, I just havnt been bothered to change it to a quaddy. It had the 750vac before and I changed to its current 650dp just before it was registered. It's not for performance, and it's not for looks... It's just cos it's there, runs well, and I totally CBF changing it.
Plus I lost the fuel inlet fitting off the quaddy, and I'll be buggered if I can find a place that stock them![]()
Are you still going to run EFI on the 454?
yeah totally! i couldve had a running gen 4 in there by now otherwise.
im hoping the 454 will teach me about tuning efi. EFI live supports the ECU that came with the engine, so with a basic rebuild ill be ok to run the ecu, but with the cam i wanna switch to i will need to get into the settings. also want to delete 3 of the 4 O2 sensors (just for cost purposes) delete the MAF and just run with the MAP which it already has, and switch out to better injectors. from what i can read the stock injectors are fine to run, but they tend to 'drip' which by all accounts wastes a lot of fuel.
once its running then ill start researching better intakes to try and stretch the rpm a little bit.
i am still looking at cams, this is the best suited to me so far:
COMP Cams 01-412-8 - COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Camshafts - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Intake Duration at 050 inch Lift: 212
Exhaust Duration at 050 inch Lift: 218
Duration at 050 inch Lift: 212 int./218 exh.
Advertised Intake Duration: 264
Advertised Exhaust Duration: 270
Advertised Duration: 264 int./270 exh.
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.510 in.
Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.510 in.
Lobe Separation (degrees): 113
its pretty baby for a roller, but it lifts the rpm to around 5500 which is gonna be my sweet spot. should bring on best torque at about mid 2000rpm, so exactly where i want it on the freeway with the T700. im hoping if all my guesses are right, the engine with the new headers, injectors, maf removed etc will be putting out around 350HP@5000 (stock is 290@4000)
anything over 350 will be just the cherry on the cake. if i dont hit 350 then i can plant the blame squarely on my port design in the heads and go alloy AFR's or iron eagles, but the CC of the iron eagles will drop my CR significantly, so im a bit hesitant.
at least thats the plan. can you spot anything wrong so far? advice is appreciated as always.
