love impalas, shame it aint a 67 in black![]()
TVR-190: That LSD service paid off. Stato just got very sideways.
Grennan: In a stato, the term is held starboard.
ah, see i was going the other way. i love the 65' tails, but in black also. this car was born green and will go green again, but dont think i am gonna go with the original vinyl roof. maybe just a tan/gold pearl.
i have NFI why someone would want to paint this car white, but meh. whatever. its my job now to get it back to chevys (gods) plan for it.
needs wires too.
"If you're going through hell, keep going"
i agree in principle to wires, but they are a giant pain in the bum cos' you have to re-tighten them all the time... and you can forget burnouts...
white walls and chev rallys![]()
Interior pics? looks clean inside.
Good luck with it, would be great fun to start a project on something like that. Great fun (heartache and endless cash supplies and frustration) but good luck!
nice, i like the chair you've got set up too - is that for when your'e out side having a beer thinking about what to do it. these are getting more rare and you'de be lucky to see one a month, good luck, keep the pics updated.
Just saw the Jesus fish on the back , remove right away :P
Just beautifulDo a nice motor, and refurbished interior - but leave the outside the way it is
It's got so much character! I love it

If Mortons got a keen eye he will be able to see that the HQ and Chevs of the late 60s share the same basic F body chasis and suspension![]()
thanks heaps guys. its gave me a little buzz to read your comments.
i was gonna keep the 327 and i am thinking of sourcing NOS stock parts to make the 375HP version of the block. i have not been able to find any info on the rochester fuel injection setup so i may drop that idea and just build a weapon out of edelbrock stuff insteadthere is a website called "summit racing" which is like me, 7 years old, walking through a toyshop. the Mrs is from denver, colarado, so i can get her folks to post stuff over as gifts
plus my mate has a 454, and he is in my ear something crazy about dropping it in this, but i dunno... i dont think i want that kinda torque, full chassis or not, itll be a bit silly.
its gonna be one long haul, but i think itll look really classic when its done. and dont worry;
the fish on the boot was the first thing to go
will post up pics whenever i get something done.
Bah, there's no such thing as too much torque. You're dreaming. I have a good mind to drop a 454 into my HQ and put the power down through the stock 185s... ^_^

its amazing what a bit of chrome polish and elbow grease can do...
although my camera phone doesnt do it justice.
it still needs a full spary, but at least i can have it a bit SHINY![]()
Yeehaw! That came up mint
I need to get my elbows stuck into the chrome around my HQ, I rekon it could come up that good too.
It's amazing what a difference a bit of bling makesYou should put that same elbow grease into the engine! Or aren't you keeping it for long enough to make it worthwhile?

this is gonna be the missus' daily, yes, i can see your confused looks, but the goal is to have the VK as the silly tyre burning, fuel consuming car, and this as the car that comes and picks me up when i have blown a diff...
the engine is gonna go either of two ways; the cheap way, or the not cheap way.
at the moment, the cheap way is lookin' good. its got a mental stuck lifter at the moment so "TAKA TAKA TAKA" is really annoying, and the simplest fix is sending some cash to the much loved AT racing world so they can supply me with one of their top quality 150 dollar cam/lifter packages... did i mention they have manifolds for 95 dollars?!?!? the carb that is on this is the weirdest things i have ever seen. its a square bore 4 pot, but its about 15mm all round smaller than holley. i have two quaddies and two holleys and they are are all USELESS. an adapter is 150 bucks, or i can get a whole manifold for 95?@?!?! how the f.. does that work?.... anyway.
once i get my 308 back from the rebuild, my buddy and i are gonna set to and strip down the front to clean up the engine bay. he is a panel beater and i am better at wiring so he owes me for re wiring his 77 ford galaxie![]()
managed to do a couple of things this weekend;
new blue racer cam, which is pretty much stock profile.
new lifters
new edelbrock performer inlet manifold
quadrajet, which may be getting changed to my modded 600 double pumper
my mate fixed a big dent in the rear passenger door, but in doing so knocked a bunch of old bog out, so itll be getting rubbed back next weekend. lots and lots and lots more body work to be done.
window winders fixed so all windows now work, but of wiring dodgied up so i have brake lights and interior lights.
just had all 4 drums reco'd cos' she didnt like stopping. gonna replace the master cylinder today or tomorrow, depending on when i get my 308 block back from the builder (the commodore takes work preference as it is registered and i am a bit sick of driving on a trade plate).
rear right hand shock absorber had broken off its top mount so a couple of bolts and a plate of 4mm steel later and she doesnt bounce around anymore.
ummm, i think thats it. she drives a zillion times better.
ok some quick pics
the engine in bits;
dummy fit of my mates chev rallys;
and the completed donk;
