I'm considering doing a darker chocolate brown... Does anybody have pictures of HQ/HJ interiors in various colours? Preferably browns and creams

I'll get you a photo of my Bosses HQ next time i get a chance Dan, it's chocolate brown. Its actually not a bad colour.

Black interior in a HQ is the best though....Especially with a GTS dash & GTS steering wheel!

I'm not sold on the whole black interior... it's just not retro enough for me

    Champion

As you can understand, it's hard to find HQs to look through, for ideas on interior colours (all the photographed ones are white, red, or other crazy retrims )

haha, I don't know anybody who owns a HQ, so this is all unexplored territory for me

Any interior pics you can get would be awesome ^_^ I need as much inspiration as I can get! I'm not going to do this for a while, so I have the time to get the ideas set in concrete

I'm even open to the possibility of having the whole thing retrimmed in the same colour as the exterior

sorry to jump back on the engine subject, but there is a perfectly good 400SBC sittin here looking for new pistons and a new home...

my housemate+me=petrol-head-money-wasters and he will prolly offload the donk cheap enough. he its 4 bolt mains and has a steel 350 crank with offset 327 journels that make this engine special in a way i have not figured out yet. i think he said it means the crank wont break and destrokes it to someblahsomethingyadawasnotlisteningcositsgottoomu chCC'sandnotenuffforcedINDUCTION...

i still have to make the final transition from turbo jap engines to yank tanks. but yeah, a nice 400HP 400SBC would do it well

i can upload pics tonight if you want. its genuine 4 bolt from factory, the crank is the bit he wants the most for. steel crank, i think it de-strokes the 400 to 383 or something which means it revs better, but will need some kind of spacer-bearings to make the smaller 327 journels fit the 400 mains.

motor is pretty much complete. inlet, stock crappy heads, block, caps, crank, rods and genuine felpro gasket set. needs pistons, oil pump/pick-up/sump, cam lifters pushrods and tappets.

he was saying around $1500 but is prolly a bit flexible due to his 454 costing a lot more than anticipated, but 600HP makes it the 454 affordable

edit* oh and we may have enough random parts to make up the engine like tappets, pushrods, cam etc. but it would be off my 327 once i do a bit of modding. so in the next month or two. and i dont know if 327 are fully interchangable

A 308? Dude, if I wanted a hairdryer, I would have bought a VS Clubsport. I intend for this car to be at least half serious

Timmy, this bloke appears to have fit a 454 under the hood of a HK Does it stand to reason that a 454 could then fit under the hood of a HQ with the right combination of manifold and filter?

It would be interesting to see what has been done to fit a 454 under the bonnet of that HK. You would probably "just" squeeze it in with a stocky cast iron manifold, and drop down base air cleaner, but even then it would be a very tight squeeze and a stocky manifold is a chuck of shit

There is another way we have come up with, its a bit of work but it will certainly get a BBC under the bonnet of a HQ. You can machine up some 1 1/2" nolathane spacers to go between the front chassis rails & the body, then just lower the front suspension down to compensate. That will give you an extra 1 1/2" bonnet clearance.
