Manual box? Dan, please tell me your not putting a manual in this.....

Also Dan, if you do go a 400 (or 350 with 400 crank) be very careful when selecting balancer & flywheel, as the 400 is the only SBC that is externally balanced. So, you will need specific 400 balancer & flywheel. They are fairly easy identified though, they have big counterweights on them...
I have no intention of making it manual at all, I have no idea where anybody got this idea hahaha

Thanks for the heads up on the balancing I wasn't aware of this. I should be able to source the balancer/flex plate through work without any hastles though. And especially seeing as how it's going to be an auto, there should be no need to remove/replace the flex plate regularly.

Can I assume the T350/T400 are boxes that are easily enough converted to column shift?

Nice vid Greenfoam. What happened to that HQ you had btw?

Also, I would think a T-350-t400 would be very simple to convert to a Collumn shift, probably the biggest hassle will be finding some linkages for it. Apparently they're quite hard to find.

But maybe you can get some made up or something?

Thanks mate ^_^ Yeah, I don't agree with everyone's style... but then most people on these forums don't agree with mine hahaha

I personally just don't see the point in spending all my money on the paint. The two things I see most of, are the inside and the engine. Simple

Haha, oh dear, rare stuff This is going to be fun!!

Chances are I can find someone who'll make them up for me or similar I have a few people I can hit up through work.

Glad to hear it can be done though I couldn't possibly sacrifice my column shift!!!

Yeh I know man, how awesome is the column shift! lol. I don't see why people dislike it so much?

Also, if you happen to get ahold of a set that are worn out, you can get them rebuilt. I think they braze them up and then file em down or something. But yeh, should be able to get em one way or another.

this info prolly isnt gonna help at all, but a good mate of mine (years back) managed to modify a B&M shifter so that his column shift was pro-ratchet style. he said is was a simple mod and only had to cut a bit of stuff up to make it work.

car was HK brougham with 350 chev and turbo 400. maybe worth a bit of a googling

and stick with the 383/column/whitewalls etc. i love where this project is going mate

No such problems in my ute, bench seat & floor shift.... However, if i didn't have a kid, it would have bucket seats, no 2 ways about it.

I hate to break it to you Timmy, but I'm never ditching the column shift ^_^ haha

ari666/jo3 blo, thanks for the backup lol, I like this idea about the pro-ratchet column bar, do you have any more information? Sure sounds like a novel little idea, worth investing in long term.

noodles, that's one of my favourite videos I watch it every night before bed. And then I touch myself.

Progress is coming strongly for my move to Cranbourne - should come together within the next month. With any luck, I should be able to move out and start touching my Kingswood inappropriately by the end of September!!

    Your gay Dan....

Column shift should be thrown straight in the nearest scrap metal bin.
