    Default HR Premier Project

Hey fellas, I'm starting up Project HR Premier

I've got a grouse base car with no rust, complete, 110% original condition.
    BUT
i dont think GTS Milo Tins, Napthalene fuel additives and chicken wire mufflers are gonna be very good on Project Prem.... SO .. I need to know a place in Melbourne that does great work in terms of:

    - A motor shop for 186 performance work, i'm thinking triple side draught webers, one helluva lumpy cam, definite head work, maybe 40thou off etc ... My old man had a HR Premier X2 that absolutely ate every 308, and even the odd 350chev for lunch...

    any suggestions?

    - A motor body trimmer that does grouse work on ye olde metal dashboards and custom velour doortrims and headlinings

anybody had anything done like this? velour over metal in an 40 year old car?

    - A panel shop of repute that will accede to my insane demands of 14 coats of pure Gloss Black and 6 coats of Clear Crystal .... i get laughed at about this .. but nobody believes me that it comes up like a mirror when you lay half a cm of paint on it...

This project will be aimed at producing the smoothest most comfortable HR Prem in town, that'll be entirely original equipment from the 186 block to the 3spd Synchro, but will get up there and mix it with any V8 ..

**NB I'm after QUALITY workmanship here, not necessarily the CHEAPEST...
i want this car to survive another 40 years for my kids and still look like factory new.

    cheers guys

    LOL 14 coats of paint.

hehe I thought I was bad when I put 6 coats on!! Paint her yourself if youve got the room.

PLUS it aint the amount of paint that makes it like a mirror, its HOW ITS COMPOUNDED. Most crashies leave a heap of orange peel behind so you cant see the panel imperfections.

IF you want something reeaaalllyy good get someone to spray it with HOUSE OF KOLOR paint. Itl cost about $2200 but itl look good

I reckon itd look insane impulse blue, but if you like the black then go with it.

hey sosage i know the perfect guy to do your engine. he is a teacher at my tradeschool, mal harrington, he built a camaro doorslammer and held the quatermile record for a few years back in the 80's or something, he does work for students at school, hes good im talkin REALLY GOOD. hes got all the machines at home and knows exactly what hes doing. ive been in the trade for only 2 years now but hes the best performance guy i know. he does anything mostly old holden and chev stuff. hes the man for 202's and 186's. if u want details ill tell him next time im at tradeschool on the 18th of july, im sure hell be interested in chatting to ya. let me know if u want further details.

House of Kolor is what all the good american showcars are painted in.

Dunno if youve ever heard of 'Pimp My Ride'... its a series in the US. It features ppl with crap cars that get done up at a joint called west coast customs. They specialise in rebuilds and full customisation. All the movies stars n crap get their rides done there. They use House of Kolor... looks insane.

Also when I was doing up a Moke I got a heap of quotes for different paints. A local guy who only did custom jobs for harleys and cars etc recommended it to me. Apparently its much more UV resistant and durable than 2Pac, also it has a insane luster. He showed me some of the sample stuff he painted... its was awesome.

VERY VERY dear though, and not many ppl deal with it because of that. It uses the COB (clear over base) system, so you just crank on the colour, then a heap of clear.

Make old school meet new school... Drop a S/C Ecotec in it ! and rip 12 sec quarters in it at the drags... dump it on some nice crome old school spokers... tub the arse end...prostock the interior... shelve the boring 186 idea.

    Yuck.

The idea of the S/C ecotec wouldn't be bad tho. But I reckon keeping the 186 would be best. Especially if it really could take on V8's.
