    Default Project: BOMB'A'DORE

hey all thought i would start a project thread for my WB panelvan
    current plans:
repair all rusted panels and body work myself
    painting her a matalic purple/blue
interer im going to have a go at making a custom dash as the current one is cracked so ill be covering it all in leather
drop eather an ls1 or 5L v8 in her not sure on what to go for at this stage

    progress soo far
attacked the floor pans with a wirewheel and found that they are pritty good and only need a little attention on the drivers side

cut out rust around the gutter around the front and at the back
removed front windscreen and wire wheeled around the bottom of the windscreen.

picked up this for 300 bucks

windowless panos always look good when done up.
I would think about using a full dash from a commy as well.
My thought would be to buy a doner car so you get everything you need.
If you use a 5 litre its a straight bolt in job with no engineers certificates needed because they came out with the same basic block.
heres my ride, i know its not much but its mine

yeh im thinking of getting a commodore as a doner, and 5L is alot easyer to get done, may go down that road to begin with to get her rolling, and then end up going for an LS1
and yes i do love the look of the windowless vans!! if it did have windows they sure would have been welded up already

ive just got my mig welder up and running, but dont have 15amps in the shed so i cant weld her up yet
just goto keep practising on bits of scrap to perfect my skill so when it comes to the real deal i dont blow holes in it

going to use the bonnet to cut up and use as patch panels as this one has too much rust to deal with in her. same with the doors, so ive goto source decent rust free ones to put on it, at the current time im just stripping back paint and patchs to find bog

Great score for $300...looks a bit rough now, but she'll come up really well. Can't wait to see what you end up doing with it.

this poor panno has seen better days, had a few mates over to do a bit of work on it and remove it from the chassie to fix a spot of rust, we ended up finding out that the chassis was a little out of wack and the cab had also takin a nice smack in the drivers side
so in light of finding that out ive decided to move on to a cleaner base and keeping all the parts that are any good for a later project.
i mite save a bit and get one with alot less rust and that is strait, but i have found a nice VK wagon to play around with for a while until something turns up

Default get rid of the vk n keep on the panno

find another donner car for the chassis and do up the panno man.
the vk is a dime a doesn (or should l say a dime a million)
the panno would be way better for you cam than the crappy red vk wagon

Looks like it had a sandman paintjob on it, are you planning on sticking with the retro look?

Ahh, no good about the Chassis, but like the guys have said, try and find another doner chassis, then repair the body and you're away...!

What Chassis do they have under them? a Ute, 1 tonner, Sedan, Wagon..?
Should be able to get something going, these are a wicked project to do up - they look sweet as finished!

Good luck what ever way you end up going with it all..

im just looking around for a better condition body with less rust in the gutters, this one had ALOT of rust in the gutters alone, at the moment im just playing around with my VK a little, nothing planned for it just a cruiser until i get a decent panelvan that still needs some TLC but with less cancer in it. mite try for a 1 tonner yet, im just going to see what turns up thinking prob better to try for a pre emissions HQ

and the chassis is a ute chassis i believe
