Hi all.
I've got a FJ Van from when I was 20. I've still got all the bits, including some spares, but no motor/box. Bodywork has all been done, but the sill need doing again. Bugger.
My thoughts are to put a V6 into it, but I don't really know where to start.
There is a bloke in Moree who makes all of the conversion bits, so I know I can do what I want. Can I get any suggestions, oppinions advice on what engine, gearbox, diff etc to use.
I'm kinda handy, but not a mechanic, and funds are kinda tight, but I don't have to be cheap.
I'll post some pix as soon as I figure out how to.
Thanks for being here.

Hi Gangey, first i am jealous you have a fj especially a van.
That being said check out my ek project(link is in my sig). I am doing a v6 conversion. I am posting as many progress pics as i can.
The best way i have found to post pics is to use a host such as photobucket. That is the one i use.
I am not sure how much difference is in the subframe etc but a lot of the stuff you will need to do will be the same.
Wireing is pretty easy just follow the pinouts that delcowizzard(thanks again delco) did for me.
Cheers Shane

hi gangey, welcome. if you dont mind my asking, why a V6? from memory there isnt that much engine bay space and there are some good ol' grey motors out there. granted, parts are gettin harder and harder to source..
Hey Dudes.
I spent about 5 years looking for a decent grey motor. I'm over looking. I've seen lots of pix which suggest there is enough room. Besides, it'll look pretty cool too. The other thing is it will make it safer on the road, and easier to reg without club restrictions, and I can put it on gas. The way I see it, it'll be a VR/S/T/Y with an old body on it. I made the mistake of cutting out the side windows completely. Now I've got to fix that without ****ing it up.
I do think the van is pretty grouse. It started life in 1954 as a hearse in Seymour. Its not stretched though. There is a big hole behind the bench for the long coffins. Then it was the pub delivery van. I bought it from a dude in Reservoir a thousand years ago, and have been dreaming about getting it going ever since. I'll keep you all informed, and really appreciate the comments. Have a good one .
