I am always one for trying to go fast, and do things a little differently. Now I have a chance to fill my boots, my VL with twin turbo V6 is almost finished, so I have decided to find out just how fast I can make a V6 go without spending moonbeams.
Here is the start......
and this is the body style I will use ... again, to be a little different.
As you can see, it is not quite ready for the strip yet, but I wanted to start this "diary" thing from the very beginning. It will be a 125" wheelbase Altered, with a twin turbo 3.8 V6 on Methanol, running as much boost as possible, and will be tuned by none other than Delcowizzid ...oh, must let him in on this secret. LOL
More to come as it happens.

Well ari, maybe some research is necessary here, look up Buddy Ingersol next time you are on google, in the 80's he blew away all the Pro Stock V8's, with a single turbo'd V6. I don't give a shit about dyno figures, with air correction and elevation , you can dial in whatever HP you want. In my world, the question is never why, but "why not"
So we won't see what it does on a dyno, but I will let anybody who is interested, how fast it goes on the strip.
I will keep the engine simple, blueprinted bottom end, flowed heads, and short manifolds to the turbo's, with no intercooler as I will be running it on methanol.

hey man, im not criticising, merely asking the question. dont take offence. what do you reckon itll run down the quarter?
and methanol=cool!!! what sort of fuel system does it require? i.e. can you use stock (type) injectors? or you gonna go back to old school carb style?![]()
Cool, I thought you were being stupid like that other idiot.
To run in the class I am building it for, it needs to run mid to high nines, which should be achievable without spending million$. I will use aftermarket injectors, around 1000 to 1300 CC's, as you have to burn twice as much meth as petrol. With the meth though, we should have a free range on how much boost gets put in, projecting it will need somewhere between 20 - 30 pounds. Amazingly, when I had a chat with Delcowizzid from here, he reckons we can put a good tune in it, while sticking with the factory Delco ECU, so that'll be interesting.
I spent some time today mounting the seat, and finalising the best wheelbase for it. It works out at about 110 inches so it should be easy to drive.

cant wait to see it done im starting to like the idea of a v6 in a drag car theres a nice one posted by VRV666 to.
so is this the type of block thatll throw flames out? judging by 1000cc per cylinder, i would guess yeswhats your plans for exhaust? straight out each side pointing upwards? or you going for more of a 'rat'?
edit* speaking of which, is the engine in the front or rear? (call me stupid if you like)
edit edit* i need to explain. i know its a ford body, and i know that traditionally they have engines in the front, however i saw one once where they had chopped the rear seat area out of the body and mounted the engine behind the front seat, kinda like a volkswagon beetle... ok, carry on calling me stupid now![]()
Nice man, I used to have a 67 HR Special with 186s and a 2 speed Poweglyde. Moved out of town and my bro sold it on me for $200. =(
I love the HR but will probably get another due to the time spent working on it and lack of funds they are hard to restore for someone like me.
I will be following this thread and cant wait to see how it comes along.
Nuthin stupid about your Q's mate. It won't be a flamer, the only cars that do that are the nitro powered cars, and also Pro Mod type cars that burn heaps of NOS ... too expensive for me. The exhausts will come out of the turbo each side, a straight 4 inch pipe that will angle down towards the ground.
The body on this is just a flimsy fibreglass replica, not a real FROD. The engine will definitely be in the front too, I will be sitting in the very back of the body, just in front of the diff.
It will look something like this cartoon I made.

I am keeping to my self imposed rule ..... do something every day, and soon there will be nothing left to do.
I dropped my drawing into the local engineer today, to cut the batwings I need to mount the diff.
I started making the anti rotation link today, which just needs cutting to length once the diff is mounted.
That's all for today.

nice! i been tryin' to stick to the "do one thing a day" but after around 9 months the CBF'ness starts to get hard to fight.
whats your rough eta on this? fancy flying it over to OZ and letting me have a go at it on the quarteryou know you wanna.
I am hoping to have it done by November, which is quite ambitious, but I am self employed, so I can make time to work on the thing. I'd love to take it to OZ and race it, our race tracks here are shit, the Kiwi's that take their car's over to your tracks always improve their times by quite a lot.
