    Figure'd i'd update this.

Took the car for a drive last weekend. Need to sort out the interior wiring cause it looks like a birdsnest.

Thinking of going smaller carb, or atleast buying one when funds permit to see if i can sort some of the drivablity issues out

    Thanks Dude!

So. Went to C4C today. Epic fail on the battery sense. I need to sort that shit out. But i've learnt so had a spare with me. Car behaved good. Sat stationary for nearly an hour and the temp didnt go above 90. Then crawling along on the freeway only peaked at 98 or so.

    Some pics i took afterwards:

Haha, it looks mint as - honest, clean and sleeper-ish.

But when you open the bonnet the bay *shines* at you.

Looks good Sabb, got any other plans for her?

Sleeperish. Heh. Apparently this car has $30k spent under the bonnet. You can tell by the hat and the rug on the parcelshelf.

Which was a true statement made when two people didnt know they were being listened to

As for future plans....it needs a proper, non tinny exhaust!

    Update Time:

Drove this car for about a week non-stop while i was waiting for the Hilux to be ready. Tuned out most of the stumbling on takeoff issues so it's now a pleasure to drive. Has a flat atm so needs that fixing...and thats about it.

    So. Here's the plan:

    -Reg ran out yesterday.
    -Not going to renew it.
-Going to pull car back into the shed and fix up some stuff

    -Bodywork
-Attend to rust poking it's head up in various places
    -Straighten out panels
    -Replace Bonnet
    -Full rub down and respray
    -*Insert More Jobs Here*

    -Underbody
    -Replace perished bushes
    -General Cleanup
    -*Insert more work here*

    -Enginebay
    -Fix up driveability issues
    -*Insert more work here*

    -Interior
    -Cleanup
    -Rewire
    -Fix Dash so it works
    -*Insert more work here*

Might take 2 years, might take 3. Not really fussed. Going to attack the car with time and love rather than a mad dash to get it back on the road.

    for those that dont know:

i took over the role of nagging girlfriend the other day, and convinced sab that selling the ol' VH was his best option. the question was: 1. let the rego lapse, park it up for 3 years and slowly get it to showroom condition 2. drive it 3. sell it.

i argued that getting it to showroom condition was a waste cos' its essentially a 6 cylinder SL VH. if it was a sle, then maybe. and the money for the sale would be best used going towards a house (and the garage that would be attached)

1 or 2 if you enjoy having the car. If i had your mentality, i would have thrown my Torana on the scrap heap 12 months ago. It might only be a VH SL, but i guarantee he'll miss it when it's gone.

If it owes him nothing to let it sit there, what's the harm in tidying it up when he has come cash to spare? Isn't that what we're all about?

    a compelling argument.

i did say the whole way through my lecture that i was being a HUGE hypocrit, because just like a 6 cylinder VH, i chose to waste all my cash on a 4 door 66' imapal. one of the least sought after cars in chevy's range

Me too mate. I've chosen to spend all my spare cash on what is just a UC SL and make it into what i want. Hell, if it wasn't a hatchback, it wouldn't be worth a zac. I can't afford to buy a much more desirable Torana so i've made do with what i have available to me.

Just because our cars aren't heavily sort after, doesn't mean they aren't worth playing around with.

Oh you guys Just making a man's decision harder than it has to be. But thanks for your opinion. Appreciate both viewpoints.

So. Here's where i stand at the moment.

I re-registered the VH because im weak as piss apparently. BUT. I did it just so i wouldnt have to jump through hoops with VicRoads to re-register it in the future.

    Now i've got a couple of idea's.

    1.
Keep it with the motor it has at the moment. Take the 750DP off and put a Quaddy on. And then new starter solenoid etc.

    2.
Take the 308 out entirely, and go down the injected path. I know i could put injection on the 308. but i might find a use for it if i have it out of the car.
Benefits of injection, dont really need to list here. Will make it a much nicer car to drive. And also a little more wow factor on opening the bonnet.
