Pulled the sump off on Sunday, main bearings are rooted, like 3mm of play in the crank. And that "dent" in the piston, is actually a hole all the way through.
Bye-Bye 176.

Still aiming for mid August. Having it ready for my Birthday would be a bonus.

Going to paint the brake booster and brackets tomorrow and then get them ready to fit. Found a tailshaft, so all going well, the motor will go in next weekend and then will sort out the wiring and fuel system

Hell yeah im getting excited. Need to buy my shifter and fuel pump, then it's just a matter of installing them, hiding the wiring and doing a few last things like putting the dash back together, getting the rear calipers overhauled and installed/bled up, putting the tailshaft in and wiring the battery to the boot.
Oh yeah, scored a battery box for FREEEEE from work, plus a brand new battery aswell. *dances*

Let us know how you go about the wiring for the battery in the boot, I want to attempt something along the lines, in my VH, if I ever get to that pointlol,
Its definately coming along, been watching the progress from back here in the shadows..!
Cheers man, yeah, that's the next thing to tackle, will most likely run a single power wire to the engine bay and then run a junction or something off there where the positive lead can connect to. Will do a bit more research into it, but that's how i see it going in my head atm.

Excellent, thanks for that.
One more question, in regards to the fuel pump and fuel pressure, what PSI of fuel pressure should i be running? The Holley fuel pumps need a pressure regulator, but the carter pumps run at a certain PSI of pressure, guy at work has a carter pump sitting at home in a box, but im not sure what PSI i need to be running and whether it's going to be adequate or not?

i got a cheap arse rebuild kit for my quadrajet and was having troubles with fuel slosh at 7 so had to go 6.5 but some can handle 8 or above.
Yeh, about 7 PSI is what you want with a Holley. Anything that pumps over 7 PSI is going to need a regulator, regardless of the make/brand. Get a Holley red, they pump 7 PSI out of the box, no regulator needed.
What size fuel line are you going to run?
