sounds sick
drive it to tafe.
After months of doing the VT up, i decided that i would buy a VH, my favorite of the older Holdens and use it as a daily until funds were there to start modifying it.
I gave myself an 8 month ban on spending any money on the car. That didnt last too long.
The car, in current, unmodified form has the following:
Straight Body
Clean Interior (Nobody had ever sat in the back seat)
176 Straight 6 Motor
5 Speed Borg Warner Manual
The car was also on gas. Which helped for the whole, economical daily route.
That was, until the thing decided to go bang on the monash. Havent pulled it down yet to look, but im suspecting a Head Gasket.
Now for the fun part. The new motor:
The VH is going to get a 308 and Trimatic.
Specs:
308
Street Cam
Flat Top Pistons
11:1 comp
Edelbrock TORKER Manifold
Romack Balancer
Rollmaster Timing Chain
Holley 4150 750 Carb.
The Trimatic has been reco'd and has a 2200 stall converter.
Pics Up Later
will be good to see that engine in the car![]()
Will be an awesome car by the sounds of the last guy who had the motor.
Disconnected the gas system this afternoon.
Radiator is out, battery is out, A/C is disconnected.
Just a quick update with the promised pictures.
Here is the starting point.

veeeeeeeery nice!!!!
mint green too, not a common colour. please tell me you staying true to its old form?
Did some more work on the car after work tonight.
Stripped out the wiring for the Airconditioning. Plus, adding pictures of the starting point, plus the motor to go in, and the progress so far.
Note, the motor is dirty because a coolant hose let go and the water was filthy.
Hopefully this weekend the motor comes out of the VH and the rest of the bay gets decluttered
enjoy.
Yay for the weekend.
Means i get to spend MORE time working on cars.
Got all the LPG shit out of the engine bay now.
Most of the aircon.
Starting to strip out the wiring loom.
Tomorrow the motor is out hopefully.
Had a productive afternoon today.
Engine Crane all set to go
Motor out, notice the amount of space that's cleared by not having the LPG or Aircon hoses running everywhere (and the lack of motor helps)
Motor and box on the floor. Will tear the thing down in the week to see what damage i did to it.
Will probably order my fuel pump this week, then need to go to the wreckers and sort out a tailshaft and diff.
Stay tuned for more!!
Aaaaaand then???
... and then and then and then... he gave me his torker manifold.
Very neat looking VH. Should go good with the 308!!!![]()
FORSALE - BRICKIES TRESTLES + SOLID STEEL SPIRAL STAIRCASE. -

Havent worked on the car since the weekend. Just trying to decide a few things.
1. Engine bay. Thinking of respraying it the same green after i smooth it out a bit, but think silver would contrast with the motor alot nicer. BUT, having a different colour bay looks like it's had a half baked respray. Thoughts?
2. Motor, Should i paint the block black, and the headers in a silver colour to contrast to the motor. This wouldnt be applicable if i went for silver bay respray?
definately dont use a different colour for the engine bay mate, it never works out like people imagine it, keep with the green
as for the motor, what you have suggested though sounds good
can't wait to see this thing

black block and heads, silver intake and alternator and stuff looks good.
make sure you use vht engine enamel or the paint can burn off or bubble from the heat. if you want to paint the extractors there is a high temp exhaust paint that you can buy from repco that does nicely. 1200 degrees F i think its called.
keep up the good work mate this will be a good project i reckon.
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.

Looking nice...
Went out and bought some of the stuff for doing the engine bay today.
So will spend the weekend sorting out the strut towers and where the battery used to be, as i removed the battery tray tonight.
Removed the rest of the wiring from the bay also. Going to weld up the hole where it comes through the scuttle panel and run the wires along the inside of the guard.
Mmmm...Sanding.
Half of one tower done. Blooody dust everywhere.
Well. That took way longer than i expected.
Have one guard and tower completed, took me an entire day to do, mainly because i've never used body filler before and had to go over what i'd done a couple of times before i was happy with it.
The pictures:
Before i got started taking the seam sealant off the passenger side tower.
Wire brush did a good job of getting the seam sealer off.
Removed the battery tray, and reshaped the guard
Removed the brake reservior.
Started to bog up the passenger side tower
Hi-Fill on the passenger side tower. Just messing around before bed last night. Really wasnt happy with the way it came out.
So this morning stripped it all back again
To where it sits at the moment. After 3 coats of Hi-Fill
First place the car goes is to the carwash
