Nope definatley not a daily driver, Ive had it for around a year or so now, and just do a bit to her as I can afford it, I had one exactly the same when I was 16 as my first car
and when I saw it for sale.....you can guess the rest now I can take my time and do it right and get it how I would have liked my first Hr.
The body is great for its age, just some old repairs to the floor pans which I have started to undo and replace with new ones.

Here are some more pics of it, the front end all new and I have mad some changes to the side walls of the engine bay, if you know your Hrs you will see that where the regulator sits,
has been shaved to give both sides of the engine bay a more smoother look, and I have hidden most of the wires and filling the holes with small S/S bolts and nuts, almost every
nut and bolt is either stainless or chromed.
Its got Premier interior, I have pulled apart the console and reconditioned it to as new standard as with most things that I have pulled off so far.
It doesn't have a heater or radio and will stay that way as I don't want anything under the engine bay that doesn't need to be and I might put a hidden radio in it
at some stage, it still has a long way to go yet as I started at the front and am working my way to the back replacing old for new or if I cant sorce it I will recondition what is there.
The only thing that is giving me some grief is trying to find a perfect dash pad mine is knackered but I might try and have a go at fixing it.

NICE!! Going to be a good streeter once its done. Love the look of the old gurls, more character than the newer plastic varieties getting around
Good work on the bay, its all the little things you do now, that add up and make a big difference at the end

With the pics, try uploading them to photobucket, or similar hosting site, then just insert the images into your posts

Thanks for that, took months to do, had another front end in my backyard that is on it now, the one in the pics, I stripped it back to bare metal, filled in some bits and then put it on.
Came up a treat, the whole front end is basicly new. Now Im going to do the diff, then the interior will get a freshen up later, its all premier and in good nick for its age

Do you have much in the way of spare parts for the HRs?
    Cheers.
    ^^From the other thread.

I'll organise some of the other pics i have on the weekend and post a few here. Diff is a little bit of work, I've made a jig to do them. It's pretty straight forward but it's not easy if that makes sense...I cut them to the length i need then weld a solid sleeve inside the tubes then weld the tubes back together, jig it up and weld the leaf spring saddle plates on. Then you have to get the axles shortened to suit (this CAN NOT be done by a backyarder). They need to be sent to a diff place to be done.

There is no "bolt in kit" for a booster on the firewall of an HR. So we just bought the booster and master and modified it to fit.

I have no spare parts for HR's as i don't own one, i just modify them

Do you still use the original pedal set up inside the car as well as the rod that pushes the booster? or does the rod need to be modified as well? any pics of one already done?
looks like an excellent set up, as I said before nice and compact

Yep, the diff sounds like a bit a work, might have to find one already converted perhaps.

You use the clutch pedal hole to fit it all in (not sure what would be done if doing a manual car, never done one). You need to use the clutch hole or there isn't enough room for the bonnet hinge/spring assembly to close. All you do then is unbolt the brake pedal and put it where the clutch pedal normally would be and you're done. HR clip that goes on the pedal screws straight onto the Gemini booster and is the right length, no mods needed there.

I could get a pic of the one i'm doing now, but there really isnt that much to see.

Good work in the boot, looks clean as hell man!

Might be a stupid question, but how do you hold the wood in place with out seeing the screw holes, etc once its carpeted?

Bugger... mine is a 4sp manual, oh well the original booster looks ok with everything else hidden, will probably get it chromed at some stage with some other parts in the engine bay
There are a couple of nice Hrs getting around up here now, cant wait to finish mine, but that will be down the long track for now till work picks up
You have a great job Blown V6 Hatch, that Hr looks awsome so far, bet the owner is wraped with it so far! do you have a before pic of it?

Not stupid at all my friend, if you look inside a Hr boot, there is a small lip that follows the line of the inner boot, I used a MDF that was thin enough to sit inside the lip so that it fits nice and snug, Im getting the Holden Lion type emblem, laser cut into the rear part, that hides the battery, should look ok, different to having subs and amp stuck to it, there wont be a radio going into it at this stage. The boot might get painted 2pac the same as the rest of the car later, no carpet.

nice! dunno if i agree with chrome springs though. i heard that the chroming process weakens the spring steel and itll mean your bonnet wont stay open after a while.

anyways, the boot looks brilliant! i wish i could do a nice square like that with the impala but there are so many twists and turns that i would end up with half the space...

but yeah, keep the pics comin!

I will post another pic of the passenger side bonnet hing LOL, asleep in bed one night, we woke up to a noise sounding like a gun shot, frig I said to the missus what was that
went out to have a look could see anything, till I was looking at the HR and noticed the spring was missing, yep....never get you springs chromed kids LOL, was warned by the people I bought them from, but if its shiny I just gotta have it luckly I still have the original ones and I just cleaned and painted it black and replaced it, just gotta do the drivers side.
Your impala looks great by the way, you certainly have put the hrs into it, coming along nicely, a labour of love as with all builds eh.
Do you have a pic of the boot at all? the HR was ok to do but the bottom was what took the time, levels and stuff.

always ready to show off my work

the wheel arches pretty much stuff any chance of putting flat panels in, so i have made a couple of panels that rest on them and run to the rear. have not taken a pic yet cos i just sized up the panels to shape, fitted then took them off. i still have to fix a couple of massive rust patches on the bottoms of the quarters so i didnt want MDF anywhere near a panel that was potentially gonna catch fire.

if your wondering, the wooden box behind the spare wheel is my woofer box with two 10's i need my sound. i think the whole woofer install is on about page 18 or so of my thread.

Cool I'll check it out, the dreaded rust, believe me the HR has had its fair share of patches done to it, even before I attacked it but its all good, gets me out of the house...
You boot looks similar to mine, just a lot bigger, the back part of mine stops against the wheel arches and leaves enough room for battery, the bottom is level with the back of the boot
section and just makes it the perfect height to get over the fuel neck on the left, I just used cardboard to get the shapes correct then cut it out of the MDF.
the back section would be roughly where you boot hinges are, maybe back a bit further, but should look similar to mine just heaps bigger, would look trick on the impala
