Post 304 Injected into HJ Premier

    Hey guys

decided i'd finally post my build up here.
Keep in mind im only young ,I am learning as i go with my dad so any tips or wise words are greatly appreciated.

I bought my 1975 HJ Premier in 2007 when i was 16 costed me $1000 so it was obviously going to have its flaws,
for starters she wouldnt start or drive properly and it was a fair drive turns out the carby was stuffed
but after that was sorted everything ran sweet especially having a rebuilt trimatic in it (for sale).Even though i was happy with the way the old girl was running i wasn't happy with the way she looked
so me and dad began ripping the car appart peice by peice to find every single bit of rust in the body
so that we could slowly replace each bit of each rusted panel, unfortunately this was a longer job than anticipated.

    The Old Idea

the plan was to put a 3.8 L vn v6 buick engine in which was all well and good for a while but we all knew at heart
that everyone wanted to see a V8 in it . So i ended up being able to convince my mum to let me put a V8 in it
after telling her that my mates 6 has just as much power as my V8 does
(just forgot to tell her that my car is 300 kg lighter and has a 3.55 diff oops)A few years later and its finally coming together after replacing 2 sill's, fixing up the rear window, a whole boot floor, a rear quarter
and 2 front quarter panels it's soon to be on the road.

I'm really keen on building a gas powered car, so eventually i would love to have a 383 stroker with direct liquid injection.
but for the moment im fine with what i have.

    Car: 1975 HJ Premier
Colour: Soon to be Matte Black (Temporary)
Suspension: Monroe rear gas shocks, Pedders springs(Rear & Front)
    Diff: Salisbury 3.55
    Engine: 304 VP 5L (165Kw/385Nm)
Trans: T700 With Stage 2 shift kit + Corvette Servo

Nice project man, if you've got any questions don't hesitate to ask mate, I've done the same conversion to my WB ute (have a look if you want).

Good choice with the engine, makes them such a nice car to drive. It's like driving a VN but heaps better, they drive much better than any Commodore ever will.

    NOS is for cheaters :P
was taking some cut front pipes off of the exhaust manifold yesterday and the bolt snapped in half
so half of it is still stuck in the flange going to have to drill it out yayyy.....
i painted my sump though so now that's all ready to go on

it also appears that someone has bent and torn off one of the lines off the gearbox
the one just above the servo cap ? I'm not sure what it does have to ask dad :P
but ill have to get a fitting for that one or something

took a month, but i finally got around to answering (mostly wanted to bump to see whats up)

yeah i'd say the trans cooler. is it an 8.5mm steel line, is there another one the same size? you can use braided hose to fill the gaps with trans line, but you have to make sure you flare the ends, same as what you would a brake hose cos there is a bit of pressure/heat in them and the hoseclamp needs something to grab onto.

braided lines are ot a permanant fix either. they will be good for a few yers, but will wear out. might pay to get some new pipework?

anyways, where are you at with this thing? any updates

    *waits patiently*

the engine is all in place now ,Tailshaft has been shortened, diff is bolted in
currently the boot floor is being welded into place so i can then assemble the fuel lines and wire up the engine.
have also got a 2.5 inch mandrell bent exhaust to go in it just for now until i can get a twin system
its not too far off now until i attempt to get it through the pits i will post up afew pics later on ^_^
    so excited :
