Thats the left hand bank head gasket. Easy to see where the compression went Theres blown gasket on two of the cylinders on this side, on the right hand bank it was blown from one. The good news is there is no holes in any cylinders, so some good gaskets will be ordered soon and she'll be up and running in no time.

I dont Rip any more burnout sections anymore for the same reason, blowing head gaskets! make sure the rear main isnt blown out i blew the No3 and 4cyl and it went into the valley and the boost popped the rear main seal out there was heaps of smoke.

If you dont have a tune yet i suggest you get one because it will just keep on doing it. That was another impressive run so was it reading 4psi on the boost gauge the stock pullys usually run at 2-3psi. the best i got out of a pulleybro 103mm pully was 4.8 unintercooled.

Awwwwesome run under 8.5 ^_^ You should be STOKED with that XD

Videos were awesome to watch. I think for the performance you're getting, and the huge skid you did that night, a blown head gasket is a small price ^_^

    #### yeah

Rear main looks good thankfully, Im guessing the valley gasket let go just in the nick of time. I dont mind giving up the burnouts, itll just encourage me to aim for 7's
The gauge was reading around 4, but im not 100% how accurate it is. Saw you vid on youtube against the vl turbo. Looks good mate Any recomended head gasket to run?

The car would have done better if i didnt listen to people there and lower the pressure to under 15psi on the rear tires haha they are only remoulds i think that killed my times alot first run was a 8.9 2nd 8.8 then lower the tires and the best i could do was 8.8s but i was getting better at driving and shifting but oh well some slicks would be nice.

Dont go cheap on the headgaskets, i just got some Felpro head Gaskets from Sprint auto parts they seem pretty good and have lasted alot longer then the el cheapo ones but a tune is what really makes the difference i just made sure the motor was running cool with a lower thermostat and putting the pod to a colder area wrapping exhaust all the basics but they add up.

I just did a start up of my car today with the turbo manifolds on to blow all the crap out of them and started fitting all the goodies so i should have it ready for a couple of drag meets and get some more vids up.

Ive been lazy since I last posted. All ive done is clean the gasket surfaces ready for new gaskets but thats all. I have ordered someACL race series head gaskets for the old girl. Aparently they can handle the higher compression the boost gives it. Time will tell :P I was going for copper ones, but #### me, they are expensive. No need to worry about a cooler thermostat...... It doesnt have one at all

Ive had a look at water/ methanol injection, it will be a mod that will happen quite soon now that ive done some research. But for now all I need to do is get it running again. Next drag meet is on cup weekend, so ill race it as is again before starting the mods to hopefully get that front wheel a bit higher in the air.

No i didnt actually. Bloody auto bahn could have mentioned that. Ill look into it a bit further before picking them up. Surely been kevlar supported and all they should hold out better than a standard gasket...?

Yeah but my dedicated cross country mountain bike had a sticker on it which said "not for offroad use". Think it might be one of those warranty claim thing'os. They are not designed for boost however still work well with it... If they didnt say that, every douche bag with 50psi worth of boost would keep blowing them and claiming a faulty product...

Thats along the lines i was thinking. With under 5 psi im not too afraid. And if it fails ill put it down to r and d.

Quick update......... Nothing has changed. Poor vn is sitting in my shed without any heads. For the second time in my life one of my projects has suffered due to a custody battle. To any guys reading this, DO NOT HAVE KIDS UNLESS YOU 100% SURE YOUR STAYING WITH THE MOTHER!!!!!!! The $10,000 ive spent in the last 6 months would have gone good in the race car .... Anyway thats not a story for here. On a much happier note, my wife got sick of me winging about not been able to afford to spend money on my race car so she bought me the gaskets I had on order as a surprise So the little vn is ready to be put back togeather but that leads to my next dilema..... As of today I scored a vp wagon in pretty bloody good condition, itll need very little to get on the road, so thats where its heading. Not bad for a huge $0 So im thinking of putting the sc14 on that and building a fun street car. So the vn might sit in the shed feeling sad for itself for a while longer yet.

Sucks about the custody battle mate, good luck to you. And some good advice there too

Sounds like the new wagon could be fun and hope to see the VN back in action soon. Also, why is it that you keep getting VN/VP/VR's? Just out of curiosity.

Good presumption, and the other bit is they are EASY to work on. Not to mention they were the modern cars I couldnt afford in my p plate days so I had a fascination with them then which never left me

Been a while since I updated this thread, but today was a good day. A bit over 4 months since I blew the little thing to hell and back today I turned the key after finally putting her back togeather. I was a bit dissapointed when it was running at first. Missing like crazy, a quick look at the plug leads soon sorted that, aparently I was a bit keen and mixed two up. Hit the key for the second time and presto......ITS ALIVE Great timing too because the next drag meet is on the 28th of this month, enough time to flush the oil a few times and install some 3.9 diff gears I got for a street project im doing.... I decided that ratio will go much better in the vn Unfortunately thatll be the only extra mod from last time, but I have a slight feeling it just might lift a wheel at least a few inched with those diff gears CANT WAIT :P

Next drag meet is just over a week away. Oil is flushed, engine bay tidied up a little, putting a home made oil catch can in tomorrow, replacing the water pump and chucking the 3.89 diff gears in...... One more thing I would like to do is chuck a 5 or 6 psi fixed pulley on the blower before then. So if you have one or know of someone who does please let me know so I can get it done

Everything done except for more boost. Speak up people a few days left to grab a smaller pulley in time. If you know of someone let me know. Cant wait to run it on saturday all the same. Im hoping with these lower diff gears itll pull heaps harder after take off
