That's awesome, iv'e always wanted one of these. Out of the two pics i reckon the first one looks cooler![]()
I did one of thees out of a 4pot block a few years back
looooooool.
forgot about this thread, and the 'project'
well today i got bored after school. so ill show you what im up to.
note, i taught myself how to weld about 4 or 5 months ago.. went out and brought a welder and hadnt used it till today.
soo. the welds are really good and strong for a beginner.
i grounded 6 or 7 mm out of the piston so it would go flat on the rod..
i de-greased it got rid of about 6 spider homes.
hosed it off
wire wheeled it.. and i welded on the rods.. then primed, heat gunned it and painted it blackkkkkkkkk.
i have to sand out the bores so their all shiny again cos theirs some rust primer and paint in them from the hose and painting..
and i used a grinder with a sanding disk on the pistons so they have fine scratches i tried sanding them out but i cant get em.. dunno wot to do..
heres some photos of me welding, and ill go take some photos of the block now...
allllsoo i need ideas for the legs!
Why not do the same thing for legs as you've done for the top?
that would sick...piston legs
The ones I've seen have mostly had the above, rods and pistons as legs. Hmmm I've got a couple of 202's in the shed. Might have to check the bores. Wouldn't do it to a standard bore block.
Yeah +1 for just the piston head
coffee tables are pretty low 500mm top off the ground. normally about the height of the top of the seating cushions on a couch.
would you also need some supports to hold it up. as just a "central" ballast may be unstable
IDEA: could look good if you made it so the crankshaft could be a drawer to install remotes etc.
whatever you do itll look great. keep up the good work. hope to one day make similar things but with timber.
cant wait to see your future projects
