Yeh theres heaps of work involved but i like fiddling with cars, just cant help myself haha. Im learning heaps, ive never really done anything to FWD cars before so all this CV joint business sort of put me off touching them so i left them till last but then found out they are easy to remove once i tried, they wernt worth worrying about. Im not sure what the plans are, i may end putting it on the road if they open the concrete plant next to work, i dont want my commy getting covered in lime and wrecking the paint. But current plans are get it to a roadworthy state and go from there.
your doing a great job mate. that poor laser has been raped in a past life.
Havent posted for a couple of days, the camera disappeared for a couple of day but i found it again today so heres how its looking:
I dont know which bonnet to use, the white bonnet on it now is straight and fits fine so the body is straight but the blue bonnet fits ok too even though its a little bent up it looks alright as well. Either way its a <5 minute job to swap them over.
And heres the old meteor, looking a bit sad now but god is it ugly in the front, every time i look at the front it reminds why didnt just fix it instead of the laser.

Ordered some new outer CV's for it cause both cars ones were stuffed. Ebay special 30 bucks for a pair with boots and everything, for that kind of money you cant lose, even if they only last a couple of years. And then i can fill the gearbox with oil and then drive it- sort of. still has no brakes because i changed over the masters :/ and i havent put fluid in it yet, im changing the rear ends and buying new rear wheel cylinders.
Well its been a while since i updated this thread,
SO... the meteor engine went in, shat its pants so pulled it back out and fitted another old engine i had lying around, turned out to be a good one! No rattles no smoke, runs really well. Yet to swap over the rear ends, the meteor one is in the shed, the old rear is still hanging in there, just.
Fitted a set of old driving lights i had because i was bored and they were taking up room in the shed, also bought an alpine headunit for 20 bucks of ebay, and fitted that, no speakers as of yet but anyways, looks the part lol

Haha that's great man, something different![]()
Someone gave me (for free) a red KA Laser Ghia a few years ago. I have only ever used it as a paddock bomb because the interior was stuffed and the tyres had the steel belts sticking out of them, but the engine ran perfect. I had to change the fuel pump twice and the exhaust fell off once lol. But now it doesn't go anymore, I left it sitting for a really long lime and when I went to drive it again, the diff blew up and lost all the transmission oil haha.
The interior looks clean in yours, are you going to respray the outside or just leave it?
Well nothing has changed with this beast, me and my mates were bored over the long weekend so we decided some grass toboggan was in order!!
SO here it is in action:
On another note, i have purchased some new rings as its becoming a little smokey, hopefully its a std bore as thats what i bought cheap on ebay!
Well little update,
Engine is coming out again because i got my hands on another low k engine cheap except this time its actually good! (i hope)
Its really clean inside, so its a good sign

im having trouble visualising the efi 5.0 in there, but im sure with a big enough hammer you can get that firwall into the right shape.
That was a very entertaining read. Well done for all the work you have done. Looks pretty darn good for a paddock bomb.
Ps: I think you bought that headunit off me, used to be in my old work van.
LOL, get the gas axe onto it! then we can drop a blown 5 litre in up front and slap a 9 inch under the back. If you supply ill deliver
Thanks mate!
I know its not worth the time and effort i put in but i enjoy it so why not, surprisingly fun to drive too!
Pretty interesting about the headunit, it would have to be the best feature of the whole car i reckon![]()
That head unit was the best thing that was in my old shitty berlingo van. Was very happy to see the end of that thing. Best of luck with the new engine for the laser, hoping to see some more updates soon!
had a good laugh while readin this mate, good work using it as a training vehicle to hone ur skills...inspiring me to do something similar cos I have bugger all mechanical skills, seems like it'd be lots of fun to just dice up a car and put it all back together again bigger n better* (not beater)...on the cheap

So much awesome contained in this thread. The laser is actually starting to look pretty tidy! Needs more 2JZ though![]()
Yeah its pretty much perfect for learning, screw something up meh its a pos anyways and replacement bits are cheap as dirt. Its always got something to try and fix, so its good for filling in the boring weekends when you got nothing better to do except poke around in the shed. I get a kick out of it anyways lol
Pfft boat anchor, this bad boy would pull the boat down with it
Dunno if "tidy" is the word for it haha but its definitely come a long way from what is was!
A 2JZ RWD conversion would be wicked, any RWD would be. Ive heard they made an AWD version in japan, would love to convert it to one of those with a Mazda BPT!!
Little update, new engine is in. Runs really good and this one does not blow any smoke or rattle or make any bad noises lol. I bought some NOS lights off ebay really cheap ($20 inc postage) so its now sporting a larey new rear end, ill take some pics one day![]()
All it needs now is Brake hoses and rear shockies, and maybe a grill of some sort.
and then maybe, just maybe, Blazer shall see the open road once more.
Got my hands on a new front clip, in average condition so it suits the rest of the car, new headlight as well.
And i had a go at making some door trims, turned out ok? A little bland but better then nothing
And some cheap tail lights i got my hands on:
