haha yeah i can relate. my old man had a 308 4 speed hq sedan in mandarin red (almost the same shade as yours) that i wanted for as long as i can remember. got it for my 18th, got a motor built for my 19th that ran easy 14's (that was half quick back in 99) and proceeded to get up to all sorts of mischeif in it! it's still in my backyard awaiting a full resto as soon as i put a shed up.

yours looks real tidy, wont take much to make a beast out of it. just dont cut corners or let idiots work on it

nah mines not going. the motor went into an lx hatch then a vh sl/e. then it got a bit low on compression so i pulled it down for new rings and bearings but never got around to putting it back together, one day i will. plus its been outside for years so the paint is stuffed and its got a few rust spots from its days on the coast but its nothing that cant be fixed.

cut corners/get lazy/dodgy work/buy cheap junk parts/do a half arsed job. all these things u will end up doing or buying properly again trust me, some things will be a prick of a job/expensive whatever but better to do it right the first time.

i had a holley blue fuel pump in mine, noisy but it never missed a beat. might be an idea to have a look at all the fuel lines and tank breather hoses and make sure they're in good shape

Im in love, you dont see many in project ready condition like this laying around anymore. At a quick glance I see extractors, 4 barrell carby and a clutch pedal. Verrrry good platform to start off

Definately loose the bar, the value of the car will jump up instantly with a standard bumper on it. Bars belong on 4x4s and that where they should stay :P

i would only keep the bar if the roo's in your area are real bad, i cant imagine the standard headlights would be real bright so like u said the spotties and extra protection could come in handy. speaking of lights i dunno if they went from sealed beam (crap) to halogen (replacable bulb=better) headlights in the last of the kingy's or not. might be worth looking into getting some halogen lights if it hasn't already got them

Just my opinion, so go with how your heart feels, but the bar and side skirts (in my opinion) are very b & s, i.e belong on a ute in denni. I can imagine the beast without them already and will look great But if you like them thats a good enough reason to keep them.

May I suggest buying an original front bumper for it, but keep the bullbar? You can switch between them if you want!

I love kingswoods! I'm in your position too, my parents gave me their '74 HJ Styleside Ute to me for my birthday, It's been in the family since brand new, i'm going to restore it back to original condition, brown interior, bench seat, 173 red motor, the works! but i'm not allowed to start on it until I finish the Falcon to prove to them that I won't abandon the project.

I cannot wait to see what you do with this mate, you've got a great starting point

I might start a thread about mine tomorrow and throw some pics up for you to have a look at mine.

H4's. they the good halogen ones, the older kingys sealed beam ones, when the light blew u had to buy a whole new light?! not good.

personally if it was mine i would remove the bullbar and skirts, lower it and get some 15 inch dragway/weld/cragar rims but as said already. its yours do it how u want it
