hardly original if your gonna stroke it, but yeah i understand.
plus, thought HG only had 327? HQ had 350? (genuine question, i dont know)
HG were 253 V8 optional on all models, 308 V8 optional on all models, 350 V8 standard on Monaro GTS '350' and im pretty sure they were the first trimatic v8 combination. HK had the 327 and 307,the HT had the 308,307,350 and by original motor i meant numbers matching![]()

i know! my eyes are getting sleepy from all the pixfail.
Just a couple of points to clarify here. Old bastards like me remember this stuff from our youth.
HT's could be had with the 307 until the 308 came on line. The 307's were then run out. The 308 was standard in the HG Brougham.
With regard to when the Trimatics first appeared, they were exceedingly rare but the first Trimatics appeared on very late HT's. I'd be willing to bet not one has survived to this day, they were so rare. They even had their own unique badge which I have only seen once, many years ago. Anybody who remembers the old Tri-matic badge will recall it was a simple "Tri-matic" in chrome, but when they were fitted to those HT's, they had an upside down triangle behind the letter T at the beginning of the badge.
It's also worth noting that there were two different 350's in the HT and HG. Manuals had a high compression (10.25:1) version, developing 300 bhp and autos ran a low compression (9.0:1) 275 HP version.
as soon as i get her out of the shed i will get some full car shots, but she is blocked in atm and we wont try to move her until the roof gets stripped and primed, been looking for days and cant find any before pics but they will be posted as soon as i find them
maybe i should give u guys a quick run down as to how she got to this state :
i bought her off an old man 11 yrs ago, drove her for a year till water started coming through the roof every time it rained. so i removed the vinyl hood to find a mass of rust - took her off the road and stripped her to bare metal (panel by panel)and rust converted everything. my first plan was to restore her old fashioned ways lead wipe and file finish and show her as a bare metal brougham but was way too expensive so i primed her up and shopped for a panel beater. Found one but could never convince him to do it for me "too big of a project" so i primed her up and stored her and begged my mates dad for years ....untill now..... hes ready finally , tells me he wanted this to be his last restore "save the best for last" haha
so this is how she sat for 10 years

i would say not necessarily some probably had turbo pattern 308's

The 307 in the HT ran out sometime during the second half of 1969. Even though the 308 was available from June 1969 with the Brougham, you couldn't option it in other models until the 307 ran out. I had a 307 HT Premier which was a late 1969 model, but it had the Powerglide.
Turbo pattern 308's didn't appear until the HJ, after the 350's were dropped from the model line-up. According to my records, the HJ Statesman ran the 308 with TH400. Some time down the track, the TH400 was replaced with the lighter TH350.
Ouch that roof dont look good thats going to be a pain to get it smooth afterwards

It was a "delete option", but very few owners chose to delete them. I can't see any sign of the studs that the clips fitted over, but that rust tells me it was fitted with the vinyl roof. Was that the case?
