yeah cheers guys.... i sold it back in 2004, its for sale now again now for $110k....
hey guys havent done an update in a little while so here it goes.
not much has happened, the project is at a bit of a standstill, so far we have got the ride height perfect and also got a few little bits and peices that have gone onto the car, we also got a momo steering wheel for it, it looks great on the car.
Unfortunatly we can't do anything to the car now, we are waiting to pick up a new floor peice as one of them has been bashed in and pushed the floor around abit, once we get that then we send it off to the panel shop to get all the body work done.
Realisticaly the project should be finished by mid next year if all goes to plan.
Ill try an get a few pics up of where its at now later on this week.
yea, GTS wheel is expensive, we can always get one later as well, but this wheel looks really good + we got it for a good price
I remember how the chrome on the dash pieces used to fade and rub off and you were left with ugly white plastic.
That gearshift seems longer than I remember. It might be just that there's no console and rubber boot, but I recall that the shifter on the Saginaw was very stubby.
year that dash piece has seen better days, trying to find a decent one on ebay atm.
the gear shift is the standard height, probably because you can see where it goes below floor level and there is no surround it makes it look longer. like you said. and they are a very stubby shifter.
Looks good mate. Are those quarters and roof in bare metal? Should get some epoxy primer on those before they surface rust too much.
thanks mate, they have been coated in a clear epoxy primer to stop it from rusting.
Cheers Jester, got new brake lines for it the other day, not to long before it is ready to go into the panel shop.
got another set of blinkers for it last night, in really good condition, next to no pitting on the chrome and the lens isnt cracked. best set so far.
As above. Looking good mate![]()
hey guys hows it goin, havent done an update in ages because the car hasnt changed much in the past few months.
we have just been collecting parts and making small adjustments to the car.
but recently the car has become the centre of attention in the shed once again. just yesterday we received the full cloth and vinal interior. 100% brand new, its re manufactured stuff from all the original materials. looks so good.
this week coming the monaro is going back out to the media blaster to have the floor blasted clean and also a section of the floor pan and bracing replaced. once thats done the car is hopefully going to paint.
so there you have it the latest on the car.
And i had to throw in this pic of my ute and the monaro.

this arvo's efforts. the motor has been pulled so that when the car goes off we can fit all the parts to it and get it set up so that when the car comes back from paint it just gets dropped in and we can go.

dude that houndstooth is super OG.... loving it....
dont sweat the petty... pet the sweaty...
thanks mate. im loving it aswell, cant wait till we fit it onto the seats.
hey guys late update but anyway, the car was taken back out to quick strip to have the entire underneath of the car soda blasted and also have part of the floor pan fixed up. have been out to a painter who is close by to the quick strip joint and seems really good and is keen to do the job but unfortunately may not be able to get to the car for a while due to other work. so still trying to find a painter thats keen and ready to go. any one got any ideas for a painter in the bankstown region?
latest pic
garage looks empty and so full of crap without the monaro. lol
Hey guys havent updated in a fair while. but not alot has happened on the monaro. well in our shed anyways.
The monaro was taken back out to blacktown to have some more metal work done, new door skins and panel beat the floor pan as the rails that the seat bolts are in were smashed in and the bolts were stuffed. so now that has happened the car is presently sitting in the paint shop and waiting for the painter to finish another job off so he can start ours.
i will try to get pics of it at the paint shop but its hard with work and that.
Anyways a few small jobs while the car is out. we got a new centre console as the other was stuffed. i had to fix a crack in the new one and put the opening in for it to fit the saginaw box.
New console, had a split through the mounting bridge; All consoles did this.
I fit a small peice of plastic over the crack and epoxy glued it in place
The old console was well and truly stuffed, but it did have the cut out flange thing for the saginaw so i poped that off.
i then drilled out the cutout and filed the edges on the new console and glued it in place.
We also rigged up mount for the shifter plate (G clamp to engine stand haha) so we could test out our linkages and shifter.
we found that the shifter that was on the car was a herse shifter and also a peice of $h!t. so we got the right shifter which works much better but now we have to reweld a mount for the shifter as the plate was modified to fit the herse shifter.
Other then that a few little bits here and there is all thats happened.
Cheers Luke
