Default My VH SLE Restoration Build With V6 Conversion

    Heya all,

Just picked myself up a rundown, Neglected & Mistreated VH SLE for $1400 !! Score i reckon.
This will be my 3rd VH and by far the most difficult not just due to the condition, But the lack of funds and the fact that i have 4 boys under the age of 8!
Anyways, I plan on putting a Buick V6 in the old girl to up the reliability, Driveability and improve fuel consumption.
Other than that its pretty much all bodywork and a full respray as she's a bit ratshit at the moment.
Anyhoo i'll post updates & pictures as i have them.

    Heres how i bought her:

Ha!!! Trust me the pics are deceiving, I thought that too when i was on my way to buy it "Hmmm, Looks in good nick, I wonder why its so cheap?"
Every panel is dinged & rippled or rusted, Its had the bodgiest respray, None of the Power windows work (every single bit of them is just sitting in the bottom of the doors and the windows are held up by blocks of wood) It was running like the biggest bucket out and the bearings were so far gone that i only got 1000kms out of them before they packed up!!!
Back window looks to have minor rust but i am concerned because it's been resprayed how much rust is covered with bog...... And the windows were Gaffer-Taped all the way around because the rubbers are gone and they leaked!!!! I know, Who the #### does that? WHY NOT BUY NEW SEALS??????
This guy had no idea and to be honest, Im glad i have my hands on it to restore some dignity and credibility into the ol girl.

Because i figured this thread was for "Projects" and the other was for just the cars themselves.

This thread will have all of my build and rstoration pics and info.

Well last night i picked myself up a fairly tidy 92 N14 1.6L for $600 with the timing chain death rattle.
Basically it sounded like the chain slapping and grinding around in there at any RPM below 2500ish.
Any thing above that and it went away and was a whisper quiet engine.
So i drove her 50kms home (Drives great besides the loud and embarrassing noise!)
And within the hour i have ruled out the upper tensioner as it looks to have been replaced approx 20k ago so looks like i'll be pulling half the motor out to fix the lower timing chain.
All in all looking to spend no more than $400 fixing her up to have a nice reliable, cheap to run daily.
    Heres how i bought her:

What does this have to do with My SLE you ask, Well this is the greatest thing to happen to the old girl. It means i can stop driving it daily and do some serious stripping!!!!
