Started cleaning my interior after i gave up on speakers for the moment to ####ing hot in garage though afternoon sun shines directly into it. Done the door trims come up a treat compared to what they were.
Basically i'm just using some cheap motortech upholstery & carpet cleaner i picked up at repco ($3 a can on special) when i went looking for speaker wire today. Then went to bunnings which turned out cheapest for speaker wire and bought a soft nail brush for like a $1.
Anyway when it cools down ill go out and do some more. Here's a progress shot of how well it works not bad for $4 but i think elbow grease counts for a lot running out of clean rags though

I ended up soldering onto all the contact pads i also ripped the original plugs off old speakers and soldered them onto crossovers so it just plugged into original loom

Didn't turn out perfect as i hoped but once theyre all cleaned up should fit up nicely.
Here's a few pictures of my setup you could do a much better job on a mill with an indexing head but i dont have access to that sort of stuff anymore. So a drop saw will have to do

Its slightly smaller than factory for a number of reasons which include the shape of factory ones and im after more room between this and the power steering pump for my intake. Another thing which will happen is the removal of the battery tray and also the part that holds this in. So mounting it will be different i will be making a custom stainless airbox to go where battery is, which wil have a couple of special features in it. As im planning on getting it ready for drags the airbox is on backburner atm due to money and time constraints.
This will not be in more than likely either but i'll see how it goes. I decided to start this at work as i had some free time and materials ( made out of offcuts and scrap) I wanted to have a go at using pipe cut down the center then 45'd similar to how pwr and the like look (except theyre folded sheet metal) If i make another one i wont do it this way again mainly because its annoying to cut the pipe on the drop saw and to get it perfect. much easier to make one out of sheet metal.
Mine is also 6mm thick alloy as it what we had. I also wont be mounting the low coolant sensor (mine doesnt work anyway) as it dont have the tools to cut thread and its not hard to check the old fashion way.
Dimensions are 210x220x80mm

Here's some progress shots of the merge as i said previously its not perfect which has lead to a problem fitting last pipe in. I left one till last as it was one i stuffed up and cut too short. So really i just got to re-cut one pipe to fit and it should be good.
AS you can see they still needed a trim at that point. Also theyre quite long its hard to visaulise how long they were going to be when i cut them so next time ill make them shorter and not waste so much material i'll trim them back later probably almost back to where ive welded them
Here its trimmed up with one left to weld in. Turned out pretty good so far im happy with the end result though theres plnty of things id do different next time like decrease the angle supposed to be 10degrees but its still rather wide for my liking. would be ok on 3 or 4 merge but 6 is too much
PS pictures looked better on iphone sorry for poor quality

I cleaned garage first off to make some room and moved out my mock up motor and pulled the sump off and gave it a good clean #### that that was gluggy oil. Now reason i did this is ill be using sump on my car and welding as drain fitting onto it. My sump leaks so i'll replace the sump when i pull motor out.
Did some more clean moved stuff out of car and setup my welder i then mocked up where the turbo going to sit. It's a bit close to head but it is a rather large turbo. I think ts not too high from others ive seen and what not it should clear bonnet fine. Defenitely going to need a turbo beanie though. Anyway i think it looks prety tough
I then moved on to cutting down the merge smart idea and note to future self cut down pipes before welding together getting a neat cut would be much easier and welding too.still rough in that picture i thought my grinder blew up turns out it may have something more wrong as it tripped the fuse. Anyway so thats job sort of half done i'm going to have file finish it.
Anyway next i moved on to cutting a new 6th pipe to replace the one i ####ed i thought id take a couple of snaps to show you how they come up after a file finish as i never posted one last time. I've welded that pipe into merge now so its all finished next step is to cut / shunt / persuade it to get close to the shape of the flange as possible then weld it and start building my pipes. Havent got a picture of finsihed merge as my iphone doesnt like my charger and keeps disconnecting itself hopefully have more good updates tomorrow

Here's my update for today i'd say i'm 90% done just welding left to do. Tell you what no angle grinder is a real pain in the bum. Being sick aswell hasnt helped but i got shit done. I'll let pics do the talking
Progress pics i took.
Note in this one i had to change No. 3 as it was blocking one of the merge pipes pity i liked how it looked. In the end no. 3 ended up being a bit longer than the rest as i had to me it clear 1 and 2 plus leave room to get my oil drain down there
Where i was up to at 7pm when i called it a day didnt want to piss neighbours off anymore
