    Question Vs V6 Into Vk

Hey just about to start my first serious project car VK.
I also just bought a VS and going to swap all the good bits into the VK.
ppl have done this before so i'm looking for ppl who have to help me out and point me in the right direction,

What are the most common probs with this conversion??
I have been told the whole K-Frame will bolt in, (Good)
The fuel tank will bolt in (Good), the VK is efi so fuel return lines are there but are they big enough?
Does the th700 fit in the tunnel? VK's came with th400's and they are about the same size so i think the 700 will?
Will the VS diff bolt in? it has a 32mm wider track than the vk
Whats the wiring like? doesn't scare me but on a 1-10 how much f+n about is it?

    Any help would be great

The V6 will bolt into the VK K frame the only difference is the steering rack mounts.
If oyu want to run a VK rack keep the VK K frame, else if you use the VS rack use the VS K frame.

Fuel lines are big enough I run them on my EFI 5L VK

The tranmission tunnel wont accomodate the auto straight off but with some assistance from a lump hammer it will it doesnt need much.

From memory the VS diff mounts are pretty much in the same locations but the wheel track will give you issues. If you want a good diff go for a 28 spline VL LSD or a 25 spline 85VK/VL diff also available in LSD

Wiring isnt really a big issue I made a couple of silly mistakes with my 5L my forgetting an ignition wire to the ECM which took a little work to find. Also one tip put the battery int he boot if oyu want to make it look neater.

    cheers
    Scott

who would have told you a VN motor has more power. They might be quicker but certainly don't have more power. There is a little thing called mass which slows cars down but in a Vk it's gonna fly.

VN to VR (V6) engine: 125 kw @ flywheel
VS to VY (V6) engine: 157 kw @ flywheel

Whoever said VN engines are more powerful is just plain wrong.

So Holden say but the VN-VP motors can be 95-105rwkw on a dyno stock and the ecotech about 100-105rwkw. Also the VN motor is making more torque for the first half of the rev range. There's very little if anything in it and if you put both engines in the same car I wouldn't risk betting my money on either one of them, too close

go the VN. Ecotech is just plain shit IMO. The low down torque is what you want.

yeah thats my plan... S1 have the better torque, but shitty coolin system... prob looking at S2 VN+ motor for my project... fixed coolin & removing bellmouth will help.

But I would love to know what Im up for... anyone had problems? Or everything was sweet??

Hi iam looking in to this for my vk. Got a vn s1 s pack complete car. Spoke to a guy here in brisbane who has done it told me how to go about it (vk K frame no good for v6 as mounts are in wrong position ok for 5.0 ltr swap) use a vl power steer rack as there issuse with right hand side exhaust manifold (lines go the other way more room ) Ive seen the looms for as little as $200 plug in deal 7wires need to be hard wired. Mines come to a stop as the engine in the vn has what looks to be terminal.
