    Default HQ Statesman any ideas?

Any ideas on what i should do first.

    My plan is
    1. Paint/Body (Know any local? Or are you?)
    2. Mags
    3. Interior
    4. Engine (Know any good mechanic?)

ATM it has a 253 h/c, I dunno the diff ratio. It has a trimatic But the price was right. I was originally going to buy a VR or VS but i fell in love with this old beast. Any pointers would be great.

What about an independant rear end? VQ series II or similar. Improve your handling.

I know where there is one for sale if you are interested.

What a beast. I love HQ Statesmans.

    What I'd do (in order):

    1. Buy an SS Commodore or HSV from the insurance auctions and use the drivetrain from it. You can get kits from Castlemaine Rod Shop for installing Gen3s into older Holdens. It is very cheap & easy to do. By buying a wreck, you'll have all the fiddly little parts which are hard to find after the fact.

    2. Paint it black & Get all the chrome bits re-chromed.

    3. Then worry about interior, wheels, etc.

Top car mate. All the best.

    Nice project !!!

I'd try to restore to it's former glory as stock as possible...

If the interior is knackered then I'd probably go fo a Pro-Stock look...

Dump it on some 15inch centrelines...dump a Chev on gas in the bay...

    and cruise...

it would look good matte black, inj 304, Daytona rims (you know the old 240 spoked rims) with white or red walled tyres. interior would look good original black with flames stitched in on suede door trims and roof, basic autometer gauges, twin exhaust dumped on its gutz... i have a chub just talking about it...
