ok, cruising round the local garage sales on saturday, i saw this little beauty sitting on some guys front lawn with a foot of grass under it. thought meh, worth a try, asked him if he wanted to sell it, said 150 and its yours. doesnt start.

so me and dad organised a trailer for today, and went back later that day to have a better look at it. lots of surface rust on roof, series 1 reco motor, ratty interior, he was selling it to a mate, gave him the key and he lost it, so, we tried mine on the ignition, bloody barrel is perfect, not loose at all. thats a first. grinder it is.

went back today with trailer, i chucked in a new battery while dad attacked barrel. ok, got that undone, steering was unlocked. turn ignition, click, click, solenoids clicking, but no spin. dad pops bonnet, bashes starter wirte and starter itself, turn ignition, away she goes.

splutters away and smoey exhaust for a few minutes after 6 months of not running, top up the steering fluid, since it was bone dry.

drove it up onto trailer, took it to carwash, pressure washed it a bit, looked heaps better with just that, got home, sprayed a few bits with crc, coz it was flooded with water, started, drove it into shed, let it idle for a while. had a real high pitch squeal, thought maybe ps pump, coz it was dry, turned ac on and it stopped, damn ac clutch is shit. but the air is friggin cold, gonna try and keep that untouched.

well, thats my weekend summed up, now for some specs:

yep, but the motor in this new one will be sold sometime, but will stay in there now for easy manouvering in and out of shed n around yard.

its getting rebuilt as a full ride, showcar style... slowly. its getting the fulltreatment on it. as its straighter than my current wagon, which will just stay my daily driver.

lol, yeh, i scored 2 bonnets for $40 each on the weekend, gotta pick one up still.

one for current wagon, coz the jap replacement bonnet i got was shit, and other for the project wagon, coz its bonnet has been jumped on.

update, spent the afternooon cleaning the car out some more. tok all the crap out of it, sorted stuff into keep, throw, sell. wasnt much to sell or throw funnily enough.

so, now the inside is pretty much empty bar dash and a few bits, had lots of dirt n crap in it, so i vaccuumed and hosed it out. still needs a good scrub though. also took the old bonnet off, as its no good.

its slowly getting there.

well, this wagon will goto commodore heaven soon. after its run in with an angle grinder today to help morton out, shes definately off to the scrap yard. ill find another wagon in a couple years to become what this was going to. something with a bit less rust aswell.

going to strip the remaining bits off it that i want, take all the boxes and stuff out, then call the local scrap guy to come tow it away.

well, she left the yard the other day, filled her with scrap stuff we didnt need from other cars, etc, took one door off to replace the dinged one on lowagz v1.0, and kept the tailgate for "future experiments". took the gearbox out, swapped the good silver bonnet for the crap aftermarket bonnet on v1.0, and ripped a heap of stuff off the engine. got $80 from the scrap man for it, which isnt bad considering i paid $150 for it to begin with, and i got free spares off it.
